[Bug 1916412] [NEW] WiFi not working after upgrade to 21.04 on ACER Aspire One
Public bug reported: After upgrading my ACER ASPIRE ONE D270-1895 to LUbuntu 21.04 Daily Build February 20 2021, WiFi no longer works. The adapter is detected but it is disconnected and I cannot connect. This is a dual boot machine, and the WiFi works on on Windows. The adapter is: Broadcom BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) I tried to generate a bug report using ubuntu-bug 10, but when it came to the point where I was to select S to send, it did not work (none of the others worked either; typing anything at that point did nothing). I realize that this is an early release and I am prepared to live with some problems like this one. This is not a "production" computer for me; I thought I would try the new pre-release on a machine that is not critical so that I could get a feel for it and also so that I could report any bugs that I come across in the hopes that it will help the developers improve the final release. This is similar to #1911650, but the hardware is very different. In my case, the ethernet adapter is working OK so I am able to connect to the Internet OK. [Bug 1173759] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect
I just upgraded from XUbuntu 13.04 to 13.10 Beta and now the wireless works with my encrypted router (WEP). The kernel is now 3.11.0-04generic I have rebooted a few times, and the wireless connection has worked immediately for me without having to re-enter the key. The update went very smoothly, and a few other minor problems that I experienced with 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04 have also disappeared now. Canonical does not advise installing 13.04 Beta on a production system. However, I normally use this computer only when travelling, and I have no trips planned for a few months, so I decided to try it. There are a LOT of programs that have to be reloaded, but other than that, so far, it looks great. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173759 Title: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1173759/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1173759] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect
Is there any estimate as to when this bug might be assigned to someone and to get it fixed? My netbook has been unusable as a portable device anywhere that the WiFi link is secure (works fine in lots of airports with free access and in many hotels). This is the kind of problem that will deter the average user from adopting LINUX in general and Ubuntu in particular.

I have the same (or similar) problem with my Acer Aspire one D270-1895. The problem started shortly after upgrading to XUbuntu 13.04 (not the initial upgrade, but one or two updates after that) and has continued through all updates since. Since where I am now located I cannot conveniently report this bug from the LINUX on my system, I am doing so from the Windows partition so cannot see which version of the kernel, but it is the one included in the latest updates -- I think it is 3.9. I can connect to non-secure networks without problems, and I have successfully connected to WPA networks, but cannot do so if the connection is to networks using WEP. Since I use this computer while travelling and trying to connect at the homes of friends or relatives, I cannot change anything in the router. I am hoping that this bug will be fixed soon so that I do not have to resort to booting in Windows in order to connect to the internet -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1173759 Title: Ubuntu 13.04 can detect wi-fi but can't connect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1173759/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1066294] Re: package linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
Does this mean that the kernel will never again support non-PAE CPUs? One of the great selling features of LINUX has always been that it would support very old hardware. I am running XUbuntu 12.10 but with the old kernel (3.2.X). However, I cannot do any upgrades until the Broken Packages are fixed, namely the 3.5.0 kernel. What is the recommended solution (other than throwing away my perfectly good eeePC)? Is there another distribution that would be more suited to non-PAE CPUs that will be supported for years to come? [Bug 599369] Re: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic won't load in Kubuntu 10.04
The following article helped me to repair grub so that I could get the computer running: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/05/fix-symbol-grubputs-not-found-when.html I had to modify the instructions given there because I had /usr on a separate partition. The next important step was to modify fstab to mount the hard drives by UUID, as disk order gets changed so the older method (by /dev/sdX) is not reliable. I think that part of the problem my be related to the fact that I am now using ext4 instead of ext3. -- Linux 2.6.32-22-generic won't load in Kubuntu 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/599369 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 599369] [NEW] Linux 2.6.32-22-generic won't load in Kubuntu 10.04
Public bug reported: After upgrading to Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid) AMD64, and after fixing the GRUB loader problem (Grub error: grub_puts_ not found. ), when I select the option Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.32-22-generic from the GRUB menu, I get the splash screen with the dots moving across the screen, but it never actually loads anything. The screen just stays there with the dots going across the screen, If I restart and select Ubuntu, with Linux 2.6.31-22-generic, after doing a few peculiar things, it does load OK and is working fine. My other computers did not encounter any problems upgrading to 10.04 and running 2.6.32-22. I am not sure what other information I need to supply. The processor is an AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 620. My video card is NVIDIA model MCP61. I am not sure what the ramifications of using the older version of the kernel under 10.04 might be. [Bug 131976] Re: fails to start: cannot apply additional memory protection after relocation - apparmor doesn't work on stacked file system (livecd)
sudo aa-complain /usr/sbin/cupsd/ sort of fixes the problem, but I suspect only partially. The error: There was a problem committing changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages. goes away, but if I look in the log, I still get: Setting up cupsys (1.3.2-1ubuntu7.1) ... Reloading AppArmor profiles : done. * Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd /usr/sbin/cupsd: error while loading shared libraries: /lib/libc.so.6: cannot apply additional memory protection after relocation: Permission denied invoke-rc.d: initscript cupsys, action start failed. dpkg: error processing cupsys (--configure): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127 and near the end: Errors were encountered while processing: cupsys and at the very end: Reloading AppArmor profiles : done. * Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd . . . . . . . . dpkg run finished! Thus, I think there is still a problem, though not enough to bother me as far as I can tell right now. -- fails to start: cannot apply additional memory protection after relocation - apparmor doesn't work on stacked file system (livecd) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131976 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
