If you go to /etc/fonts/conf.d, to you have a symlink to 10-hinting-full or to 10-hinting-medium? This does not affect Firefox though. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: build-essential I am using Xubuntu 8.04 The package build-essentials requires linux-libc-dev_2.6.24-17.31_i386.deb but it cannot be found.
