[Bug 111661] Wanda The Fish does not quote fortunes-fr

2007-05-01 Thread apelete
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fortunes-fr

I noticed that Wanda The Fish, when asked, never quote any of the fortunes-fr
sentences even though it's installed on my system.
After a quick search into the system's folders, I noticed that all fortunes
files are installed directly under /usr/share/games/fortunes, whereas
fortunes-fr files are installed one level deeper, in
/usr/share/games/fortunes/fr. After copying these files into
/usr/share/games/fortunes, Wanda started to quote them when asked...

The fortune-fr install path should be changed in the future, for our
Fortune Teller to speak franch and tell us wanderers what we were in
search of...

[Bug 20204] Re: ThinkPad Back and Forward keys do not work

2007-05-01 Thread apelete
These keys should be configured out of the box and work for all applications
using "back" and "forward" functions, e.g. Nautilus, Firefox, Yelp
Here's a hint I found on the net to enable the keys in xorg:
---
Basically in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/inet (ubuntu, other distros will vary) put:

partial alphanumeric_keys
xkb_symbols "thinkpad" {
key{   [   XF86Back]   };
key{   [   XF86Forward ]   };
};

(how do I generate those  numbers ?  = keycode 233 and  =
keycode 234 from xev point of view)

and then in the $inetkbds bit of /etc/X11/xkb/rules/base add "thinkpad". Once
that is done, just select the "IBM thinkpad " layout in
gnome-keyboard-properties, and your back and forward buttons will 'just work'
with no xmodmap messing.
---

I believe this is the correct way of doing things so it should be done by
default.
I also know there's a special startup script which loads key mappings depending
on the laptop model. Someone here might have ideas on how to extend it for
keyboards, it's another possible solution

[Bug 62525] Re: "Documents" folder bookmark double entry

I can't see why "Documents" should be a special place like "Desktop". It
simply should be a bookmark, whether or not it's there by default, and
should "magically" appears as a duplicate whenever you try to add a

I'm using a "Document" (notice the absence of 's') bookmark for the

[Bug 70247] Thinkpad X60 bad battery life under 6.06

2006-11-04 Thread apelete
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: powernowd

Owning a Thinkpad X60 I decided to ditch WinXP for Ubuntu as soon as I
got the laptop but there's a very annoying bug in Ubuntu: I merely get
2h30 of battery life whereas WinXP is advertised to give up to 4h (and
indeed does) using the battery I have.

I noticed that the system was unable to change cpu frequency to anything below
1Ghz (on a Core Duo T2400 1.83 Ghz).
Isn't there some way to better control cpu frequency and lower it to get some
more battery life (and make the fan stop working ALL the time) ?

After applying some changes in /etc/default/acpi-support (according to this
page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/ThinkpadX60s), I was  finally
able to get suspend work (didn't work out of the box).

But when resuming from suspend, the laptop is unable to reconnect to the
