[Bug 1933880] Re: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it
For me, with nvidia-driver-495, the simple solution was to remove the damaged symlinks from systemd. You most likely have them if you upgraded from nvidia-driver-470 or nvidia-driver-465, because 470 still included the .service files in /lib/systemd/system/. The files are no longer included in 495 but the postinst script does not remove the symlinks. So, remove them with: sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate.service.requires/nvidia-resume.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate.service.requires/nvidia-hibernate.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-suspend.service.requires/nvidia-resume.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-suspend.service.requires/nvidia-suspend.service Works instantly, no need of rebooting or logging off. According to user punyidea at https://gist.github.com/bmcbm/375f14eaa17f88756b4bdbbebbcfd029, the services are not needed on 470 either and may be safely removed. Hope that will fix your problems as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933880 Title: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-465/+bug/1933880/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1872244] Re: Jack audio not working on Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Thinkpad Carbon X1 (7th gen)
Daniel, thanks for the workaround! It works! I can confirm that JACK not starting on SOF can be fixed by just setting the period to 1008 or 2040. I'm on Dell G5. However, JACK with such a setup is completely unusable for me. All applications produce noise instead of proper sound, probably expecting a power of 2 frame sizes. The only setting which helps somewhat is "Force 16-bit" ("works" only for period of 1080, not for 2040) which makes the sound almost normal, but with crackling distortion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872244 Title: Jack audio not working on Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Thinkpad Carbon X1 (7th gen) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jackd-defaults/+bug/1872244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 790130] Re: no pressure sensitivity with wacom tablet in inkscape
The 'sudo apt-get remove overlay-scrollbar' workaround works (except pointer-stroke dislocation) in Ubuntu 16.04 but I can't set mapping to 'Screen', only 'Window' works. I mean I can set it to 'Screen' but it is not effective. When I close the settings window with 'Screen' selected and reopen, the mapping is set to 'Off'. Only 'Window' stays on. This looks like Inkscape is reading cursor position using Screen mapping but Stylus position using Window mapping -- thus the dislocation. [Bug 741995] Re: Unity acts not as a dock for LibreOffice but as a launcher
I know this is not about the PPA version, but maybe this workaround will help to track down the cause. On opening a Writer file from Nautilus, a duplicate but low-res blue Writer icon appears in the dock. Opening a second Writer file produces TWO new icons in the dock: one low-res blue Writer, and one blank white (empty document). I found out that resetting Unity (unity --reset) fixes the dock's behaviour -- I get two arrows next to a single Writer laucher icon. However, if after that I open a third file, the dock still produces a duplicate icon. RE: [Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installingATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver
Plymouth is meant to provide a nice-looking full-resolution boot screen on all DRM-capable graphics cards thus avoiding archaic text screen or lame WindowsXP-like low resolution logo. And it works fine until user decides to install a proprietary driver which does not like some other driver to be loaded before it. The behaviour cannot be changed because the driver is proprietary (try forcing Nvidia and ATI to amend this). That's why making a neater bootscreen experience requires the new opensource graphics drivers - 'nouveau' for Nvidia and 'radeon' for ATI. Both are still incomplete but work, try them. Compiz team even recommends nouveau over proprietary drivers. So I don't really understand what the fuss is about. Use open drivers - a default choice for most users - or if you really have to stay with proprietary, a simple tweak using VESA mode (explained earlier in this thread) can get you a nice bootscreen again. By the way, it is easy to moan, but it is harder to get your own hands dirty. This is free software! I have tested seeking in totem using libgstreamer 0.10.21-4 with MPEG2, AVI (xvid), FLV, and OGG (Theora) files, and got the following results: mpeg2: Seek doesn't work as expected. When the slider is moved and then released, it jumps backwards. The length of the jump is progressively bigger towards the end of the file. For 50-minute mpeg film it is impossible to seek to the last 10 minutes, because when slider is moved to the far right the clock shows about 41 minutes! Seeking with keyboard also is unusable, and quite crazy. In play mode, using single keypresses (right arrow) advances my 50-minute film by decreasing leaps up to about timecode 04:37, and then the behaviour reverses - each keypress actually moves the film backwards. When I press and hold the key, it ultimately starts to seek forward, but never reaches the end, because at 00:30 minutes or so the slider just starts to jump wildly back and forth. In pause mode seeking works, but also stops at 00:41, unable to reach the final 10 minutes of the file. avi: Seek works reliably, with a small backjump of 2-3 seconds. flv: Seek works reliably, with a small backjump of 1-2 seconds. ogg: Seek works reliably to the very second. ** Changed in: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- Totem-Gstreamer seek problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231538 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 302976] [NEW] [Intrepid] Devede does not start in locales EL, PL, SK and SV

Devede developers know this problem and have issued fixed version 3.11b. Please update Ubuntu repositories with this version. According to developers, the bug manifests only in 4 locales: EL, PL, SK and SV. Look at http://www.rastersoft.com/programas/devede.html (scroll down to History of versions). The temporary fix is to uninstall devede and reinstall the fixed deb provided by the developers (the uninstall step is necessary because the fixed deb is identified as older by apt): http://www.rastersoft.com/descargas/devede_3.11-0~rastersoft3_all.deb ** Affects: devede (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Intrepid] Devede does not start in locales EL, PL, SK and SV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302976 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
