[Bug 391114] Re: [karmic]snd_hda_intel: audio moves to polling mode and starts repeating (Toshiba A100-259/ATI IXP SB4x0 HD/ALC861)

2009-07-16 Thread arekkusu
Running Ubuntu 9.04 with all updates. Laptop is a Toshiba A100-742.
Same Chipset and audio card (attached lspci) and exact same problem.

Audio work for some time and then stop working. Sometimes audio stop working
after just a few second from the startup sound, sometimes I can watch something
for 1-2 or more hour before it goes down.
The audio loop

Audio did work properly on ubuntu 8.04, didn't work well on ubuntu 8.10
either.

A bit off topic but this laptop is a real nightmare on Linux... wired
network fail after heavy transfer, USB is slow and fail (the chipset is
notorious for it's slow USB even on WIndows, so it's partially an
hardware problem, still USB that stop completely working on Linux is
bad)

** Description changed:

It does the same (with different code) for the other arrow keys, delete
key...
   ^[[D^[[A^[[B^[[C^[[3~

Other that this the interpreter does work.
+
+ -
+ EDIT:
+
+ I tried compiling python3 with the latest python3 version from www.python.org
and got the same issue.
+ After searching a bit I found that this was due to not having the package
libreadline5-dev installed. After compiling one more time with the package
installed the keystroke problem was gone.
+
+ So it looks to me as if the the python3 package provided for Ubuntu 9.04
+ is bloken. Or am I the only one having this problem ??

[Bug 349887] [NEW] CCSM: choosing image: only shows .jpg but not .JPG

2009-03-27 Thread arekkusu
Public bug reported:

Under ubuntu 9.04 beta / CompizConfig Settings Manager 0.8.2

Under Desktop Cube
Appearance Tab
Click on New

Then you can choose an image files... you can browse your files for image file.
Only it doesn't shoes .JPG files. it does show .jpg file though. It's the
capitalisation that poses problems.

I would believe the correct behaviour is not to make a deference between
.jpg and .JPG...

[Bug 291863] [NEW] [Intrepid] Connecting to SSH server with Nautilus. Can't transfer file because free space: 0 bytes (gvfs bug ?)

2008-10-31 Thread arekkusu
Public bug reported:

I have got problem transferring file to an SSH server using Nautilus.
(running Ubuntu 8.10)

I've testing the folowing on two ssh server.

Connecting to the server in the following way:
Place Connect to server Service type = SSH

Once I am logged in to the server (entered the password / public key
authentication...)
I get a nautilus window for exemple: /home/user/.gvfs/sftp on 192.168.1.x/

I can transfer file from the server to my computer fine but I can't copy
anyhing to the server. I get the following error:
There is not enough space on the destination. Try to remove files to make
space.
Note that in the nautilus status bar I've got Free space: 0 bytes

There actually is enough place on the server and permission are ok too.
I can even created a file on the server and then fill it up with text
without a problem.

As a matter of fact I can transfer the same file to to same directory
just fine if I use the following method:

-Use nautilus to manually access sftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
Then the file copy fine. I noticed there is not Free space: in the status
when using this second method to access the server.

Hope my explanation was clear enough.
Seem like a pretty annoying bug to me. Hope this hasn't already been
reported... well I didn't manage to find a bug with the same issue.

Workaround I found: exiting from the gnome tray icon and launching scim (alt

I hope this get corrected for the final version. SCIM input is something that

2008-09-14 Thread arekkusu
I guess this will turn more into a forum discussion than a bug
repport... anyway it's not really a bug.

I just think it's unreasonable from Mozilla to ask that. I can
understand Mozilla wanting to protect their brand but that is going to
far and I just don't see what Mozilla gains from doing that. It's not
like Ubuntu is shipping a much modified version of the software anyway.

If it would be me to decide I would just change the name to Ubuntu Web
Browser (no need to create a new fancy name IMHO) and just change the
artwork. That's it. I don't think it would pose much problem to the user
experience.

[Bug 238014] Re: Strange X Crash - Can reporduce when searching a page in Firefox

2008-06-12 Thread arekkusu
Look like the problem is related to my wacom tablet.
I didn't have any problem with the tablet plugged in normally (although it
didn't worked properly). I think it's installing the wacom driver and modifying
my xorg.conf file that made the problem appear.
(I followed those instruction http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=765915)

Now I have unplugged my tablet and revert back to my old xorg.conf and X
don't crash anymore.

[Bug 238014] [NEW] Strange X Crash - Can reporduce when searching a page in Firefox

2008-06-06 Thread arekkusu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have got something very strange happening.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 with Nvidia Beta driver (needed for my recent graphic
card)

I had no problem with the system until a few day ago... Now I have got X
crashing multiple times when using Firefox and one time when using
Thunderbird.

On my system I can reproduce this very easily in Firefox. On any web
page I press ctrl+f (to search), then when typing in the search box it
crashes randomly. By randomly I mean it doesn't crash only just any
input... for exemple if I enter two c it crashes all the times, but
not with some other letter for exemple.

Beside than I've been using my computer for some other thing (gaming
with wine...) and I didn't have any other X crash.

I'll attach my lspci and Xorg.0.log
Tell me if you need any more information / log.

Desktop effect were activated by default.

As a personal comment:

[Bug 204735] [NEW] Software source - Download from

2008-03-21 Thread arekkusu
Public bug reported:

While it might not be very important I believe there is a inconsistency
problem in Software sources (System administration software
sources) and more precisely in the Download from drop-down list

*Explanation:

I installed Ubuntu in English (localization: US English) and chose Japan
for my location.

By default (after install) the Download from drop-down list contains:
-Main server
-Server for US
-Server for Japan
-Other

and the default choice is Server for Japan which seems totally
logical. (server in the country where the user is located)

*Problem

Now if I happen to manually select a server (Other... the user select a
server or choose Select best server)
The drop-down list changes to:
-Main server
-Server for US
-*Server I selected*
-Other

Note that Server for Japan as disappeared from the list !! I find this
confusing. There seem to be no way to select that option afterwards.

It think that:
-Only the geographic position in relevant to the choice of server. Therefore
even if my default language is set to US English, Server for United States
should not appear, but only server for x (x being the country of the user
location*)
(Note that the default setting is relevant though.)
*I imagine there aren't server for all the country so a relevant decision
should be taken it the case from the user country. I don't know how it is
handles right now.

-You should be able to select server for x x being any country where server
are available.
(I am thinking in the choose a download server window)

control and I can easily manage the volume of my 2 soundcard input/output)

I REALLY hope that in Hardy the default volume control (is it pulseaudio or
whatever) won't have that kind of obvious problem.
I've had to explain my GF how to install the alsa mixer and add it to her panel
because of that issue (I gave her a USB headset).

Sorry if you found my comment unnecessary (I know it won't help directly
solve the issue) but I really thing you should pay attention to that
kind of annoying problem especially for the LTS release which Hardy is.

[Bug 192211] Re: Sound Juicer pops up even if no CD inserted

2008-02-20 Thread arekkusu
Sebastien Bacher Ok I see what you're getting at. I managed to get a
log. Hope it'll be useful :)

BTW I don't know if it's of any importance but I have a irqpoll kernel
parameter. (for trying to solve some USB issue, doesn't seem to help
though)

(I put all the logs in the Zip file)

[Bug 192211] Re: Sound Juicer pops up even if no CD inserted

2008-02-18 Thread arekkusu
I can confirm I have the same problem in Gusty.

Sound Juicer pops up at random (?) time. Appends to me a few time
yesterday. Last night I locked my computer and this morning Soud Juicer
was there.

Ask me for any output output you need...

Sebastien Bacher Sound Juicer doesn't popup when connecting a USB /
Removable device so I wouldn't know what to do with the instruction on
the page you liked to

[Bug 66104] Re: [Gutsy] scim: input freezes in various applications under XIM mode

2008-02-04 Thread arekkusu
I can confirm this on Gusty.

Installation from live cd with Japanese as langauge.
I nearly immediately found the bug while editing some folder's name in
nautilus. (impossible to input test / have the close the application for it to
work again)

I used the set /FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic option to true hack and haven't
experience this problem since.

I just can't help to think something is really wrong when there is such
a obvious problem (which for me pop up directly after installing) and
nothing is being done about it... there has to be some real lack of
support for that input system / japanese version of Ubuntu.

And I don't know what the exact criteria are for the importance of
Ubuntu's bug but Medium seems completely inappropriate IMO
