[Bug 1868502] Re: Synchronization with earlier Ubuntu versions or a recent Debian version fails

2020-10-06 Thread Christof Arn
To make it work, I had also to replace unison-gtk, not only unison. So,
what finally helped was:

Problemsituation: I had updated laptop A to a newer version of ubuntu.
When trying to synchronize with with laptop B (Debian), and therefore
did start unison-gtk on lapotop A, I got the error we discuss here.

The solution that worked for me:
1. On Laptop A: downloading from packages.debian.org exactly the unison Version
*and* the unison-gtk version, I have in use on Laptop B
2. On Laptop A: Installing both:
sudo dpkg -i unison_2.48.4-1+b1_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i unison-gtk_2.48.4-1+b1_amd64.deb
3. On both, Laptop A and Laptop B: Removing in the hidden folder .unison all
files, with a filename starting with "fp...", that are created after I had
updated laptop A to a newer version of ubuntu.

To make sure, Laptop A wont "upgrade" unison and unison-gtk I created,
like mentioned above, a file with filename "unison" in the folder
/etc/apt/preferences.d/ wrote this text into my file "unison":

 Package: unison
 Pin: version 2.48.4-1+b1
 Pin-Priority: 1000

 Package: unison-gtk
 Pin: version 2.48.4-1+b1
 Pin-Priority: 1000

Thanks to all here for those posts that helped me to do so!

[Bug 1301083] Re: Drag and Drop File Auto Opens Folders

2015-12-08 Thread Silas Arn
I like this as a feature. But it leads me often to mistakes, dropping in
a subfulder. A good resolution would be that if one folder opens, the
subfolder under the cursor is gray and inactive, if i release the mouse
it is dropped in the current folder.

Yes

These steps:
1. Open gedit from Terminal
2. Open a local file
3. Open a file out of FileZilla (Connect with a FTP-Server, right click on a
File, "Show/Edit")
4. gedit crashes

Same Problem with Toshiba e-Studio 165, even using latest ppd from
http://business.toshiba.com/support/downloads.jsp?site=usa . (--> "GA119x CUPS
Driver")
I can print the printer test page, but no more documents from libreoffice.
I can print by printing form libreoffice to a pdf and then print by evince or
adobe reader 9, but not by gtklp.
Problem occours with ubuntu precice 12.04, but also with ubuntu 10.04 and with
debian testing.

Problem occours since one or two month, can't remember exactely, when
the problem was first time.

[Bug 59039] Re: Sysvinit "wants" to install and replace upstart

2008-12-31 Thread Christof Arn
Same problem for me. I use a 64-bit-Ubuntu and updated from 7.10 to 8.4 and
then directly to 8.10. Synaptics tells me, it want to install sysvinit ant to
remove startup-tasks, system-services, ubuntu-minimal, upstart,
upstart-comapt-sysv and upstart-logd. The update-manager also seems to want to
do so, if I start them, but if I click ok, it finaly decides to not to do any
thing.
"sudo apt-get upgrade" means, that there is no need to upgrade nothing.
So it seams to be a bug in synaptic (and in the update-manager).
I can't find the bug tracking system of synaptic. Does anybody know?

[Bug 218622] Re: apt-get broken by debreaper during upgrade to Hardy from Gutsy

2008-04-23 Thread Arn Zart
I've found a workaround***:
$ sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/libgnomeui-0/gnome_segv2

After that, `apt-get' seems to be working and an upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy
complited successfully.
$ sudo apt-get remove debreaper
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

***
I've pulled the above directory from attached file `debreaper.0.crash':
$ cat debreaper.0.crash | grep -i 'no such file' | sort | uniq
 dpkg-divert: error checking `/usr/lib/libgnomeui-0/gnome_segv2': No such file
or directory
