[Bug 1912935] Re: battery drain while notebook off / shutdown

2022-05-07 Thread asgard2
@mlagerweij
I tried this by editing the grub boot settings, unfortunately it doesn't make a
difference on my hardware, the battery is drained.

So far, the only option is to choose no shutdown to prevent rapid
discharge, which is annoying.

I can confirm this bug at my HP 15s-eq0355ng with xubuntu 20.04.3, it
took 30 seconds to suspend.

After removing xfce4-screensaver, the notebook goes into suspend immediately.

@kaihengfeng

Thank you for your help.

Shutdown with this kernel (linux-image-5.14.0-rc6+_5.14.0-rc6+-1_amd64) at
ubuntu 20.04:
12h - 7% battery decrease
23h - 13% battery decrease
Unfortunately there is no improvement in energy consumption.

You mean, maybe only amd devices are affected?
If I search the web, the "HP 15s-eq0057nw" always has an amd core (Ryzen 5

@Nolt
Booting to Windows is not required, your can press the power button from grub
menu.

@kaihengfeng
I'm concerned, no update in months and it seems to affect a lot of devices.
Most of the users may not notice the increased energy consumption with daily
use in home office.

Thanks for your information.
The linux-oem-20.04b kernel is installed, at a first test:

- "snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0" must be disabled, otherwise no input device
recognized
- without this boot option, internal microphone working
- external headset:
- - output possible
- - NO input, there is a headset microphone port in xubuntu volume control, but

Your kernel is installed. At a first 10 hour test, it stopped on the same
percentage. With the previous kernel impossible.

I will check again tomorrow!

But I have no wifi or other network connection, the module is not
building (same on the mainline kernel).

Would be an integration to the current ubuntu release possible?

Addition to #38. 20.10, it is booting on a fresh install to black

install all updates. But it is kind off difficult on terminal with no

[Bug 1870971] Re: [amdgpu] (X)ubuntu 20.04 boots to black screen on Lenovo Ideapad L340-17API when in battery mode

2021-01-27 Thread asgard2
I installed 20.10, the workaround from #20 not working, it boots into
black screen any time. Checked grup params, "quiet splash iommu=soft" is
aligned as described.

[Bug 1912935] [NEW] battery drain while notebook off / shutdown

2021-01-24 Thread asgard2
Public bug reported:

Hello,

my battery drains around 15 to 20 percent a day when shutdown on linux ubuntu.
It is an HP notebook HP 15s-eq0355ng , Ryzen 5 3500U , Vega8 .

Tested:

- with ubuntu 20.04
- Kernel 5.4, 5.8 (hwe) and the current mainline kernel 5.11
- no usb devices are plugged in
- no wake ob lan available
- no USB power when off (checked with optical mouse)
- no visible LEDs are on when shutdown

I reinstalled window 10, there is no (visible) battery drain or significantly
lower.

Linux is unusable on this device, if the battery drains in a short time
to 0% percent. This cause battery damage ...

** Description changed:

Hi, my notebook Dell G3 3590 has xubuntu 20.04 installed.

The notebook is freezing randomly at boot, with the boot logo. At lock screen
or a few minutes after login.
I can not reboot,, not even with Magic SysRq key.

Could not found a specific error with that caused this in the logs.

Tested with nouveau driver and the nvidia driver (450, tested) from the
  software & updates panel.

Logs are captured after a system freeze. Since nothing reacts anymore, I have
to restart the system to capture the logs.

After the dell community forum, I am not the only one with this problem.

[Bug 1899132] [NEW] complete freeze with focal 20.04

2020-10-09 Thread asgard2
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1671273] Re: PulseAudio requirement breaks Firefox on ALSA-only systems

2017-03-12 Thread asgard2
Audio is not working at my lubuntu, even if PulseAudio was already
installed.

ii gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio:amd640.10.31-3+nmu4ubuntu2.16.04.2

ii pulseaudio1:8.0-0ubuntu3.2
ii pulseaudio-module-x11 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.2
ii pulseaudio-utils 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.2

Firefox is popping up the same PulseAudio missing message.

[Bug 1627950] Re: Stopped (with error) ... messages on encrypted LVM shutdown

2017-02-26 Thread asgard2
Same error at xubuntu 16.10 (yakkety) clean install with lvm, luks and
current updates.

Should I worry about this message?
