[Bug 398096] Re: Screen images blurred when resuming from hibernation
Working as a software developer, I'm generally sympathetic to the problems and realities of software development and issues related to prioritizing bug reports. That said, I feel that often processing of bugs I've reported follow one of the below patterns: a) no response b) after 6-12 months you're asked if the issue is reproducible in a newer Ubuntu release Given these outcomes, it sometimes feels a bit pointless to file a bug report since sometimes they require quite a bit of an effort. I'm currently using Lucid and this issue does not appear to be present on that release. -- Screen images blurred when resuming from hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398096 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't know if this is related but our MS Exchange email server started to issue password expiration reminder notices to me a few weeks ago. [Bug 356095] Re: Master boot record overwritten by installer
Concerning the comments in bug #388373: I think some improvements suggested above could be implemented even in the presence of Grub/Linux drive mapping problems and without making the installer UI too complex: 1. when installing Grub, make the installer inspect the boot block that's going to be overwritten and issue a warning if it's not on a "safe to overwrite boot block types" list. In particular the installer should be able to tell apart standard Windows boot block from boot blocks containing e.g. Utimaco SafeGuard and Windows Bitlocker. 2. automatically make a backup of the existing boot block e.g. in the Linux installation filesystem. -- Master boot record overwritten by installer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356095 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 356095] [NEW] Master boot record overwritten by installer
Public bug reported: I installed Ubuntu 9.04 beta a system with one internal hard drive and one external USB attached hard drive. Ubuntu was installed on the external drive. The installer, however, installed the Grub boot loader on the internal hard drive overwriting the MBR of that disk without asking where I would like to install the boot loader. Unfortunately, the internal hard drive contained a Windows installation and was using full disk encryption software (Utimaco SafeGuard) so now it can't be booted. All the data on the disk is probably unrecoverable. The installer should ask the target location of the boot loader. Also, it would be good if the installer could check if the existing boot block contains something other than the basic Windows boot loader, and would issue extra warnings if this is the case. The installer could also automatically make a copy of the existing boot block in the Linux installation since installing the boot loader is the last thing to be done during the installation process. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Master boot record overwritten by installer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356095 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I switched to the iwl3945 driver but i'm still seeing the same symptoms. [Bug 62002] Installer X server startup fails
Public bug reported: i'm trying to install Edgy Eft Knot 3 on a Dell Latitude D620. when i boot the installation CD (desktop-i386.iso), the installation fails because the X server is unable to start. [Bug 61994] Prepare mount points should show partition types
Public bug reported: during installation i made the following selections: - Prepare disk space: Manually edit partition table - Prepare partitions - Prepare mount points in the "Prepare mount points" phase, the user is shown all the disk partitions which exist. the installer asks for the user to choose which partitions to mount where and if the user wants to reformat partitions. because this screen doesn't show partition types it is very easy to make mistakes in this phase if you want to install Ubuntu on a disk that already has another Linux or a Windows installation that should be preserved. partition types should be shown to the user in this screen. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Prepare mount points should show partition types https://launchpad.net/bugs/61994 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
