I don't even know what this tool is used for that was so long ago.
Literally years. No user should be expected to 1). Guess correctly where
the default config is & 2). No one should be expected to copy it in the
first place. Rule of Least surprise: if it can be automated, automate
it. In this case, the cp line should both be 1). In the post-install
script in the package file 2 2). In the 'make install' script. Anything
short of this is simply considered sub-par Unix development UNLESS it
generates the config (or asks user to sudo for it) when it can't find the
file.

2019-03-03 Thread atari2600a
I'm sorry but WTF & also this is an epic meme in & of itself. Allow me to
elaborate.

I filed this bug report something like 10 years ago. Since then, the ENTIRE
COMMUNITY has moved away from x compositors. Literally a war was fought
between the integrated display servers & there were failed commits on both
sides. literally millions of dollars invested. We can still feel the scars
of that war to this day.

I mean...is Compiz even in active development? I'd have half a mind to
believe this but report is COMPIZ-FUSION old. I'm not trying to be an
asshole here, I'm more amazed than anything. I wasn't even in my 20s when I
filed this & now I'm using propecia.

[Bug 809017] [NEW] Wrong resolution w/ CRT & Geforce 9400 GT

2011-07-11 Thread atari2600a
Public bug reported:

Running 11.04 x64. Worked on the same before, but that install was a
10.10 upgrade. I need 1600x1200, but it outright refuses to show up on
the dropdown list. I actually can't get above 1152x854 & 1280x720 of
all things. As a temporary fix I've pulled the card entirely &
reinstalled (nvidia has a way of accidentally your boot cycle with no
easy fix so I really don't want to pop it back in unless there's a
definite fix). The forum was of absolutely no help so I'm filing a bug
report here.

I forgot to mention, I have Empathy's various folders syncing with
Ubuntu One (doesn't do anything for the accounts, but it keeps my logs
backed-up in case I accidentally them). I kinda doubt it'd be the

[Bug 714909] Re: compiz wobly windows plugin causes maximized windows to shiver when focused

2011-04-02 Thread atari2600a
Happens with me. At first I thought it wasn't relevant cause I manually
re-enabled wobbly windows after upgrading to natty, but then I
remembered I subsequently wiped my ./.compiz & ./.gconf/apps/compiz
folders to un-breakeverything. Haven't tested in Unity, really I've
been afraid to go back to that freak show until at least the next beta
milestone.
