[Bug 1311990] Re: Switching keyboard layouts from some non-English to Japanese (Anthy, Mozc) does not work on 14.04

2019-01-18 Thread Atti
This bug is still present in 18.04. Probably it's not related to Anthy because
it's reproducible with ibus-mozc.
if i change layouts EN->JP, then Japanese input works correctly.
if i change layouts RU->JP, then all the letters are Russian, but all numbers
and symbols are Japanese.

** Summary changed:

- Switching keyboard layouts from some non-English to Japanese (Anthy, Mozc)
does not work on 14.04

[Bug 1647199] Re: ELAN touchpad acts as generic mouse after firmware update

2017-07-11 Thread Atti
Perhaps I've got the same problem but there's something that I don't
understand since I don't know much about hardware/driver. Does
downgrading linux-firmware through synaptic "force version" solve the
problem? Or the upgraded versions wrote something permanent in some I
don't know flash EPROM.. ?!

My touchpad STOPPED WORKING at all, it is not recognized in linux nor in
windows (I've a dual boot). I've downgraded linux-firmware with synaptic
from 1.157.11 to 1.157.8 but this didn't solve the problem. The previous
installed version 1.157.5 is not in synaptic.

Any suggestions?

[Bug 663032] Re: Spelling check shows too many dictionaries

2010-10-20 Thread Atti
I've found a workaround for this problem:
Go to /usr/share/hunspell and delete all the symbolic links (as root), then
restart Firefox

I still think that common users shouldn't need to become root and delete
symlinks to change this trivial option!

[Bug 663032] Re: Spelling check shows too many dictionaries

2010-10-19 Thread Atti
Theese are the packages that are installed at the moment:
myspell-en-au  myspell-en-za  myspell-fr myspell-en-gb  myspell-es myspell-it

Each of them provides several dictionaries. I want only one of each
language, it doesn't really matter which one, so this is just an
example: English (UK), Spanish (Spain), French (France), Italian
(Italy).

Public bug reported:

When you right click a text box Firefox gives you the option to choose the

Nicaragua...) the list gets HUGE! (as shown in the attached picture)

[Bug 642770] Re: filesystem readonly after 19Sep update to 10.10

2010-10-10 Thread atti
same here.
i don't recall the details, but right after (or during) upgrade on 2010-10-10
filesystem became readonly.
upgrade was maverick->maverick.
i'm not sure what caused this, attaching dpkg.log.
after reboot it jumped to busybox prompt saying things like
===
mount: Mounting /dev on /root/dev failed: No such file or directory
===
i was unable to mount my Ubuntu partition from busybox prompt. but it mounted
successfully from Ubuntu Live CD.
in dmesg error was (full dmesg attached):
===
[3.543155] EXT4-fs (sda6): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts:
(null)
[3.559226] usb 3-1: device not accepting address 5, error -71
===
i've run 'e2fsck' command suggested by GParted. it found lots of errors (log
attached).
now system doesn't boot saying something about init cannot find mountall. and
then it hangs. i suppose some core system files were corrupted.

i can mount my ubuntu partition, so please let me know if i can provide
more details to troubleshoot this.

also is there a way to 'repair' Ubuntu installation? do i just need to
replace corrupted system files?

[Bug 420015] Re: usblp Kernel module needs to be removed and /dev/bus/usb/*/* made accessible for USB printers to work with CUPS 1.4.x

2010-05-28 Thread Atti
On Lucid Lynx 10.04 after updates I was having the same problem. My dmesg had
the line:
[ 279.196192] usb 4-1: usbfs: interface 0 claimed by usblp while 'usb' sets
config #1

and "usblp" module was still loaded.

I solved everything by blacklisting the usblp module, but not chmodding
the /dev/bus... files.

I used these commands (as root):
echo "blacklist usblp" > /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups.conf
rmmod usblp
/etc/init.d/cups restart
update-initramfs -u

should we file a new bug?
