[Bug 1713173] [NEW] CPU fan speed not controlled by thermald

2017-08-25 Thread audi100quattro
Public bug reported:

I have an ASUS with i7-4710HQ running 16.04, and thermald doesn't seem
to increase fan speed at all (it constantly reads 2700 even under load).
Manually changing the fan speed using the PWM control changes the speed
and it becomes louder.

I have been seeing a lot of MCEs in dmesg: CPU5: Package temperature
above threshold, cpu clock throttled. I can provide more information if
needed.

** Affects: thermald (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 1713175] [NEW] fsck should check before running on an encrypted LUKS partition

2017-08-25 Thread audi100quattro
Public bug reported:

fsck.ext4 runs on a LUKS partition and starts to correct inode entries,
rendering the partition corrupted and useless. It seems like it should
defensively check where it is an isLuks partition using "cryptsetup
isLuks /dev/sda1" before continuing to modify it.

I hope such a defensive check can be added.

** Affects: e2fsprogs (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 151805] Re: flash hangs firefox on gusty 64

2008-05-17 Thread audi100quattro
This happens when you're trying to install nspluginwrapper -i
from a symlink. I think.

I did what vwingate said, and then make sure is
/usr/lib32/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so or whatever the 32-bit
plugin directory is.
