[Bug 1859043] Re: thunderbird completely broken after upgrade

2020-04-24 Thread axoin
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1849542 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1849542

I do not think this is a duplicate. My global-messages-db.sqlite is
fine, as all I did on Ubuntu 16.04 was downgrade thunderbird version.

Download from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/1:60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1/+build/18178755

and then

sudo dpkg -i thunderbird_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
thunderbird-gnome-support_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
thunderbird-locale-de_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
thunderbird-locale-en_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
thunderbird-locale-en-us_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_all.deb xul-ext-
lightning_60.9.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb

so the reason is something else.

[Bug 1741447] Re: Unity / Compiz in a crash loop after login, after updates 4/1

2018-01-06 Thread axoin
I downgraded
libgl1-mesa-dev libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libglapi-mesa
libglapi-mesa:i386 libosmesa6 libosmesa6:i386 mesa-common-dev
to version 17.0.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 and this solved the problem.

I went the hard route and downloaded the deb-files manually from "built files"
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/17.0.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.2/+build/13231714

and installed with
# sudo dpkg -i *.deb

manually watching out for dependencies. Looks like a mesa regression
rather than unity bug, though.

[Bug 630264] Re: Mosart MA-957 not recognized

2010-09-12 Thread axoin
I am still investigating why the click function does not work.

I have compared Xorgs logs with the usbhid driver and the hid-mosart
driver. This points out that,

with generic, the touchscreen is recognized a 'tablet' (absolute axes, etc.)
with mosart, the touchscreen is recognized as 'touchpad'. ( See Applying
InputClass evdev tablet catchall and Applying InputClass evdev pointer
catchall in the logs.)

I have looked in the Xorg rule for matching as tablet and it required
MatchIsTouchscreen On.
Now I would like to now how to bring the hid-mosart driver to fulfill the
MatchIsTouchscreen. Or any other ideas how to tell Xorg that this is a
touchscreen?

I'm quite near to the solution but this requires some more ideas that i
currently don't have, I hope you may help.

kind regards

[Bug 630264] Re: Mosart MA-957 not recognized

2010-09-10 Thread axoin
hello,

I was able to patch the kernel in order to load the correct driver.
I then had to execute xinput set-mode MosArt, Inc. RMTP-MA957 ABSOLUTE to be
able to use the touchpad.
Now it works accurately, but is not clicking. From evtest, I would expect
keycode 272 to be send, but it is only send a 330, so currently I am not able
to click with the touchpad. Also can I make the xinput above as udev rule so I
don't have to type this in everytime I restart?

regards

[Bug 620609] add touch support for ACER 1820PTZ [MosArt RMTP-MA957]

2010-08-23 Thread axoin
newest update:
with kernel 2.6.35-17-generic, touchpad is loaded with driver 'generic'.
Dmesg:
[2.933258] usbcore: registered new interface driver hiddev
[2.946742] generic-usb 0003:062A:7100.0001: input,hiddev96,hidraw0:
USB HID v1.00 Mouse [MosArt, Inc. RMTP-MA957] on
usb-:00:1a.1-1/input0
[2.946770] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid
[2.946773] usbhid: USB HID core driver

behaviour is: cursor is stuck in upper left corner, but touch events are
reproduced as 'clicks'. The possibility to move the pointer is missing.

With Chatty from ENAC i tried to load hid-mosart driver
In lsusb the device is identified as Bus 004 Device 002: ID 062a:7100
Creative Labs but as far as I know it's a Mosart. And to make confusion
complete, 062a is identified as USB_VENDOR_ID_TURBOX in hid-ids. I added
the 7100 as USB_DEVICE_ID_MOSART_TOUCHPAD in hid-ids. But anyhow, i did
- in hid-core.c added in section blacklist
{ HID_USB_DEVICE(USB_VENDOR_ID_TURBOX, USB_DEVICE_ID_MOSART_TOUCHPAD)},
(note: T91MT was listed under ignorelist)

- added to list of devices in hid-mosart.c
{ HID_USB_DEVICE(USB_VENDOR_ID_TURBOX,
USB_DEVICE_ID_MOSART_TOUCHPAD) },
- compile.
- copy modules to /lib/modules/etc.
- depmod -a
- modprobe hid-mosart. Result:
[ 2349.185880] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid
[ 2349.185884] usbhid: USB HID core driver
[ 2349.189654] mosart 0003:062A:7100.0001: we have been loaded! [note:
this line had been added by me for debug purposes.]
[ 2349.203578] input: MosArt, Inc. RMTP-MA957
as /devices/pci:00/:00:1a.1/usb4/4-1/4-1:1.0/input/input11
[ 2349.203814] mosart 0003:062A:7100.0001: input,hiddev96,hidraw1: USB
HID v1.00 Mouse [MosArt, Inc. RMTP-MA957] on usb-:00:1a.1-1/input0

That's already a step to have the right driver loaded, but the touchpad
doesn't work as I expected:
1) the cursor moves when I move my finger. But it doesn't appear where I
touched, its like it had mouse acceleration: the faster i move the more
distance there is between my finger and the cursor.
2) the touch event is not recognised. I cannot make any 'click'
3) the second finger does not seem to be processed.

Does anyone here have an idea like an 'oven to bake' both together? It
always seems to be the half, but it would be better to have a fully
working touchscreen. Attached are evtest logs with both drivers.

regards

[Bug 620609] Re: add touch support for ACER 1820PTZ [MosArt RMTP-MA957]

2010-08-20 Thread axoin
hi,
some news in that story. The touchpad identifies via usb as 062a:7100 Creative
Labs, but in fact it's rather MosArt.
I have never compiled a kernel myself but tonight I tried. It is strange that
drivers/hid/hid-ids.h already lists 062a as USB_VENDOR_ID_TURBOX but I left
that as is. I added #define USB_DEVICE_ID_MOSART_TOUCHPAD 0x7100. Additionally
I blacklisted this as HID_QUIRK_MULTI_INPUT in drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-quirks.c.
The result is now that three input events are created (dmesg) and I can use the
touchpad for singletouch.

I am now left with some questions, what can we do?
I only load modules hid and usbhid. Shouldn't that use the hid-mosart?
Is blacklisting in quirks the best way to make this touchpad work?
How to emulate a right-click? What does utouch do for that?
How to enable multitouch (at least two fingers)?
How to 'save' this modification for ubuntu or even the kernel?

[Bug 620609] [NEW] add touch support for ACER 1820PTZ [MosArt RMTP-MA957]

2010-08-19 Thread axoin
Public bug reported:

Hello Team,

I have a acer aspire 1820ptz notebook with mosart touchscreen. dmesg
states that the device is recognised as MosArt Inc. RMTP-MA957 and
mapped to /dev/input/event5. I can see the event information with evtest
when i touch on the touchpad.

However, the cursor is always hanging on the upper left side of the
screen. It mostly reports Ry and Rz's. I have read about kernel patches
etc. but is this still neccessary with your project? (Also ENAC says
support is already built in kernel)

How can I help you / or you help me to make the multitouchpad working till
Maverick?
tested on daily iso maverick ~18Aug.

2010-08-19 Thread axoin
Hello Chase,

thank you for your quick reply. I have already installed utouch before
opening this bug. However I only have a usb live version of ubuntu as I
cannot install to hard disk, so I have just logged out and restarted the
X-Server instead of rebooting. I hope this isn't critical.

I have attached a copy of the evtest of event5. I also include a dmesg and
lsmod output.
When I run $ gesturetest 0 0 0x nothing happens. I have a blinking
cursor on the console and no output (neither graphical).

As with version 1.6.0+git20100414-0ubuntu1 i do not expierence the
gvfsd-(sftp/ftp) problems I mentioned before.
I can mount, unmount and remount a share with stored password as often as I
want and it is always successful.
Big THANK YOU to all who helped fix this. Great community!

2010-03-29 Thread axoin
the patch doesn't do anything for the problems with s/ftp. Version
libgnome-keyring0:
  Installiert: 2.29.4git20100322-0ubuntu3
  Kandidat: 2.29.4git20100322-0ubuntu3
gvfs
 Installiert: 1.6.0-0ubuntu

However, I cannot get any libgnome-keyring0-dbgsym so I can't make a new
stacktrace.
I also took a look in seahorse like timosha and I have the same behaviour.
Credentials are only stored as password and not as network credentials.

2010-03-16 Thread axoin
Hello Sebastien,
great you care. I have already been pointed to the debugging steps, but there
is a problem.
The process gvfsd-sftp is called independently and talked via dbus. It's called
like gvfsd-sftp --spawner :1.7 /org/gtk/gvfs/exec_spaw/5. I tried to debug
the gvfsd-sftp but this doesn't bring any results, as I cannot debug the dbus
mechanism.
If you have further ideas, I will try to provide more information. The
attachment is a try, I don't know if this helps anything.

[Bug 538764] [NEW] gvfsd-(sftp/ftp) hang on 100%CPU if they try to read password from gnome-keyring

2010-03-14 Thread axoin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

ubuntu 10.04 alpha fully updated.Aditionally tested in testdrive with daily
iso, same results.
Version gvfs-1.5.5-0ubuntu1

If you try to connect to a sftp / ftp share via a password the gvfsd-(sftp/ftp)
process hangs without results at 90-100%.
This only happens if you have been connected to the share before and the
password is stored in the gnome-keyring. (View with seahorse).

Steps to reproduce:
1) Connect to a server (you haven't connected before) and select forget
password immediatly. The share will be mounted successfully.
Disconnect from the server.
2) Connect to a server and select store password forever. The share won't be
mounted and gvfsd-xx will eat your cpu.
As long as the password is stored you won't be able to connect. Delete the
password (seahorse) and you will be able to do 1).

2009-10-28 Thread axoin
Hello,

this bug doesn't exist anymore with 9.10 Kernel Linux 2.6.31-14-generic
#48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:04:26 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux. I can
successfully suspend-to-ram and - to-disk and wake up afterwards.

However #108440 and #428619 still exist.

Same on IBM T43 with ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon X300].
This may be a duplicate of #428783? I don't know which one is right and which
one a duplicate.

[Bug 46707] Re: Hibernate Suspend hang on Thinkpad T21

2009-06-20 Thread axoin
Hello,

I just tested with my T21 and recent 9.04 and updates of today and I was
able to hibernate-to-ram and -to-disk without problems and waking up
normally. This is possible with both Ubuntu Kernel and upstream 2.6.30.
Although I would say that the initial problem is resolved now, there
still is no sound after wakeup (#108440) with both Kernels.

I tried all your tips on the site but nothing worked. sudo alsa force-

[Bug 11149] Re: snd_cs46xx does not work after suspend/resume cycle

2009-04-29 Thread axoin
I tried both FN-F4 and Suspend through gnome menu. What Ubuntu version
did succeed? Do you still have a T2x laptop to test that? I am using
Ubuntu since 8.04 and never brought that to work.

I also tried the sudo alsa force-reload as mentioned in other comments to
similar bugs. This brings sound back, however it kills every application that
uses sound. So this is not an option.
I tried to add all modules snd-seq-dummy snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi
snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-cs46xx snd-ac97-codec
snd-pcm snd-rawmidi snd-timer snd-seq-device snd-page-alloc to
SUSPEND_MODULES=$SUSPEND_MODULES modules in a file in /etc/pm/config.d/
because i had worked with my wireless driver, but that didn't help.

[Bug 108440] Re: Suspend kills sound on IBM T21

2009-04-27 Thread axoin
Daniel, your workaround brings the sound back. However it does not solve
the problem, as all apps having access to the sound as firefox or gnome-
mixer-applet are killed, too. This is very annoying. Isn't this a
duplicate of Bug #11149?

[Bug 362277] [NEW] [jaunty sound] Cirrus Logic CS46xx: Lost Sound after update to 9.04 on Thinkpad

2009-04-16 Thread axoin
Public bug reported:

Upgraded to 9.04 Beta and have no sound anymore.
Hardware is ok, tested with 8.04 and had sound without problems but on 9.04 it
doesn't work. (Means I can't listen to music/video or hear ubuntu startup
jingle).
The only sound i can hear is the beep on shutdown via gnome fast-user-switch
and myself through microphone when i rise the volume in alsamixer. Checked
alsamixer to unmute all relevant channels.

2009-04-16 Thread axoin
I am sorry, this was very confusing. Following this bug report
https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/view.php?id=2873, I found the DAC
Volume which was muted. It's the last one in alsamixer.
So i have now sound on T21 with 9.04. But why was this muted during update
process?

just noticed that cat /proc/cmdline gives
root=UUID=8901a04d-06fa-46d5-be9e-709058366af6 ro splash vga=791

and cat /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume

so they differ. Is this important?
