[Bug 38512] Re: Window close should close, not quit

2008-12-29 Thread bealer
Definitely a bug or inconsistency in my opinion.

As mentioned something like Pidgin, if I select close or click the "x"
it just minimizes. Rhythmbox seems to be the only app that goes against
this. Hence I see it as a bug as it's not consistent with other apps.

[Bug 127414] Incorrect resolution in usplash.conf (no output)

2007-07-21 Thread bealer
Public bug reported:

After installing Gutsy Tribe 3, my usplash.conf incorrectly shows my
resolution as :

# Usplash configuration file
xres=1680
yres=1680

This occurs in Feisty 7.04 and Edgy 6.10.

Everything loads up ok, I just can't see anything. No splash graphic, or
even an output say for example if a hard drive needs to be
scanned/checked. I can fix the problem and get a loading screen (and
text for the hard drive scan/check) by correcting my usplash.conf to:

# Usplash configuration file
xres=1680
yres=1050

and also running in the terminal window:
sudo update-initramfs -u;

My hardware is:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Gigabyte DS3
ATI Radeon X1900GT
Philips 20" 200W6 TFT

I also have display problems with my hardware which may be related. Upon
installing (Edgy/Feisty/Gutsy T3) via the Alternate CD, I have to run a
"dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and set my available monitor resolutions
to no higher than 1024x768 and colour depth to 16 bit.

Wow, thanks for responding so quickly.

I've tried the Windows app you mentioned, I'll post the output. I've
also run "sudo xresprobe vesa" and got the output from that.

I can confirm it's definitely still happening in Gutsy (Tribe 3), so
doesn't appear to be fixed in the latest xserver.

Soory for not responding earlier.

Mine sort of works too.

On my Philips 20" 200W6 TFT (1680x1050) usplash now displays, albeit at
a lower resolution of 1024x768. That's ok for now though, but it would
be nice to close the bug fully.

I have an install script, part of which changes the resolution of
usplash so it's not a huge problem for me.

[Bug 127414] Re: Incorrect resolution in usplash.conf (no output)

2007-07-22 Thread bealer
Wow, thanks for responding so quickly.

I've tried the Windows app you mentioned, I'll post the output. I've
also run "sudo xresprobe vesa" and got the output from that.

I can confirm it's definitely still happening in Gutsy (Tribe 3), so
doesn't appear to be fixed in the latest xserver.

Is this a bug in xserver then?

I've tried it with PC Linux OS and everything works straight out of the
box.

Is it something in the Ubuntu build (an older version of something
etc...)?

[Bug 127414] Re: Incorrect resolution in usplash.conf (no output)

2008-07-09 Thread bealer
Soory for not responding earlier.

Mine sort of works too.

On my Philips 20" 200W6 TFT (1680x1050) usplash now displays, albeit at
a lower resolution of 1024x768. That's ok for now though, but it would
be nice to close the bug fully.

I have an install script, part of which changes the resolution of
usplash so it's not a huge problem for me.

>From what I can remember on my Dell XPS M1330, if I install from the
Alternate CD, the usplash resolution is wrong. But if I install from the
Live CD it's ok. Not sure what would cause that.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 111257 ***

I get this problem too.

Running Gutsy, with an ATI X1900. It worked ok in the 64-bit version
strangely, but not the 32-bit version. I did however have the very
latest 8.42 ATI drivers installed with the 64-bit version, whereas I'm
no currently running via the ones in the repo.

(totem:9794): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_bookmark_file_get_size: assertion `bookmark

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
  (Details: serial 42 error_code 8 request_code 141 minor_code 14)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 127414] Incorrect resolution in usplash.conf (no output)

2007-07-21 Thread bealer
Public bug reported:

After installing Gutsy Tribe 3, my usplash.conf incorrectly shows my
resolution as :

# Usplash configuration file
xres=1680
yres=1680

# Usplash configuration file
xres=1680
yres=1050

and also running in the terminal window:
sudo update-initramfs -u;
