[Bug 1818049] Re: virtualbox dkms modules fail to build with linux 4.4.0-143.169 [error: too many arguments to function ‘get_user_pages’]

2019-03-18 Thread beljoost
Here running 16.04 LTS and VirtualBox 5.2.4 r119785.
I also (temporarily) solved it by reverting to 4.4.0-142.

Also discussed on https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7=91833
Unfortunately a possible solution mentioned there is using the Ubuntu package
repository (a fork of VirtualBox). If I want support on their forums, I have to
use the official VirtualBox (from virtualbox.org). So I hope a -144 gets
available soon.

[Bug 1547762] Re: "SSL Protocol Error" in Chromium for several Google web sites after installing Ubuntu Security Updates for libnss3

2016-02-24 Thread beljoost
This is not per se a duplicate of bug #1520568. That bug is older;
affects 16.04; and has a fix. This bug has similar symptoms, but is not
solved by the same fix.

Because the older bug has a status -fixed-. By marking this bug a
duplicate of the older bug this new bug will never get attention or even
get fixed.

FWIW Updating Chromium to a more recent version is also subject of bug
#1468666.

[Bug 1547762] Re: "SSL Protocol Error" in Chromium for several Google web sites after installing Ubuntu Security Updates for libnss3

2016-02-22 Thread beljoost
It seems to be a package issue, not a Chromium issue. At least on the
Chromium tracker this issue has status: WontFix.

[quote]Based on the bug template, you've indicated you're running
version "37.0.2062.120", which is no longer supported, and has a number
of critical security bugs. You should upgrade to the latest version of
Chrome, which is Chrome 48. If you're running a version provided by
another party, such as your distro, please inform them that they're
distributing an insecure version.[/quote]

[Bug 1547762] Re: "SSL Protocol Error" in Chromium for several Google web sites after installing Ubuntu Security Updates for libnss3

2016-02-21 Thread beljoost
The latest version I can revert to is: 3.13.1.with.ckbi.1.88-1ubuntu6

Unfortunately the workaround Morgothzz suggests will result in removing
Chromium, Icedtea, OpenJDK6, OpenJDK7 and several other packages. So
this seems not to really be an option in my case.

I also wonder if this is a Chromium or Libnss3 issue?

btw. I'm running Mint Maya (based on Precise).

[Bug 989372] Re: 12.04 usb drive boot graphic problems

2012-07-11 Thread BelJoost
Unfortunately the workaround in #5 does not work for me. Using those
steps I seem to be able to install, but after the installation has
completed and the server has rebooted the screen stays blank and after a
while the monitor shows a message that the signal it receives is not
compatible. I tried to create an install usb with unetbootin and the
result was the same.

I tried to add nomodeset by editing the grub.cfg and txt.cfg. I
replaced quiet with nomodeset. But it didn't help.

Because 10.04 works without a problem I gave up on 12.04 and returned to
10.04. I hope this issue is fixed before 10.04 EOL.

If copying files from the 10.04 installation usb could fix this I am
happy to try. If someone could provide the filenames of the files to
replace I will give it a shot.

I'm using an Asrock N61P-S mainboard with embedded NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE
/ nForce 430 GPU.
