During a fresh install today (14.04.1 on Samsung 850 Pro) I also hit this bug. I noticed the same issue on a 13.04 install on a Samsung 840 Pro (after fw upgrade) that I am running for quite some time now. Allthough running fstrim manually is still working, I found this litte test which seems to work and confirm TRIM is active and working. I thought I'd register and share this (hopefully) useful info with you. Run test as per description below:
