[Bug 969039] Re: HUD appears when tapping Alt+Left very quickly
This bug describes a behaviour that I'm currently seeing although not with arrow keys. I am on Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with Unity 7.2.0. The behaviour I've noticed affects key combinations EXCEPT arrow keys and isn't an issue when I first boot my machine. My machine has been running for 3.5 hours and now I've started noticing that Alt-D especially as it's part of my workflow to put the focus in the Chromium addressbar triggers the HUD popup. When I first boot this is not a problem. Other combos like Alt-F pop up the file menu for a brief moment and then the HUD pops over closing the menu. As initially reported if I hold Alt for slightly longer and then press the key I want then this does not happen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969039 Title: HUD appears when tapping Alt+Left very quickly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/969039/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 952521] Re: Screen blanking and dpms can't be turned off
This problem was plaguing my friend's PC (which was my less newer rig), but not my new rig. Same distro, same architecture, same hardware manufacturers, mostly same setup. BUT, he was experiencing the screen off thing every 30 seconds, like clockwork. The FiX is here! I simply went to System Settings > Power Management. Tab over to Activity Settings, and choose to define a special behavior. Check the box that says "Never shutdown the screen", and leave the other two unchecked. I waited about 2 minutes after applying it (didn't even bother to close the settings window), and the screen stayed on. Perhaps the fact that this bug resides in the KDE power management as some goofed-up timer that we cannot control is the reason why it was overridden by this checkbox. I am only one person though, so please, those of you who are still having this happen, please try this method in order to confirm my solution for everyone, which may then be turned into a workable solution until the KDE developers fix whatever is causing this thing to happen on some machines and not others. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952521 Title: Screen blanking and dpms can't be turned off To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/952521/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

More to say, AFAIK, a vast majority of packages stored in Ubuntu repos are NOT really maintained by dedicated persons, but are actually just auto-synced from Debian repositories (sometimes with minimal changes to make them buildable on Ubuntu), so, unfortunately, there's NO much help from reporting problems with such packages here on Launchpad. [Bug 1304158] [NEW] [LENOVO 20216] suspend/resume failure
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 14.04 the system does not seem to properly suspend/resume when closing the lid on my Lenovo Y410p laptop. It sounded like the fan went off when I closed the lid (I checked carefully) so I put it away in my pack, an hour later it came out toasty hot, obviously it had been running. I was on 13.10 previously and only occasionally had situations where it didn't properly suspend when closing the lid. This seems to be very repeatable. I have just updated to server edition 12.04 (because I imagine 14.04 will be along soon) and notice that the problem with not reading settings from /etc/hdparm.conf is still there. [Bug 1275966] [NEW] Gnome Flashback (Metacity and Compiz) experience lags in displaying selected wallpaper
Public bug reported: Using an alpah build of Trusty Gnome, I experience a time lag when i use the Flashback option for Gnome. Gnome ("standard") will almost immediately display the wallpaper. Gnome Classic will display the selected wallpaper after about a one second delay. Gnome Flashback (Metacity) will display the panels (I have three, top, left side and bottom) after about one secoind, but it may take more than two minutes for the selected wallpaper to be displayed. During this time, any attempt to "use" the 'desktop' results is severe delays in redrawing the screen. i.e. Closing a window will display nested boxes correlating to the reducing window. Once the wallpaper is displayed, desktop reaction returns to normal. Gnome Flashback (Compiz) will just display a gray-black screen, which refuses to respond to any input except the 3-finger-salute (CTL-ALT- DEL). Using a liove CD, I was able to extract the Xorg.log so I may be able to include it. Reviewing the attached Xorg logs, not the lengthy delays in setting up the screen type for 'X'. The Compiz log was terminated after 224 seconds (more than 3-1/2 minutes) with a gray-black screen. ---> I do not know if this is in any way related to another bug filed today as a result of an apport lof (#1275953) by me. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "gnome-02-03-14" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1275966/+attachment/3968195/+files/gnome-02-03-14 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1275966 Title: Gnome Flashback (Metacity and Compiz) experience lags in displaying selected wallpaper To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1275966/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1254575] Re: web sites no longer recognize flash player is installed
Google Chrome works. Turns out the site had an update and it happened to come right after I updated Firefox by coincedence. I'm betting that you're right about the flash-checking issue. I'm marking this as not a bug. [Bug 1254575] Re: web sites no longer recognize flash player is installed
Unfortunately, that didn't work. However, I don't think this is a bug in Firefox anymore. The same thing happens with the Opera browser and with Chromium. So I guess it's probably either a problem in flashplugin-installer or a problem specifically on their site. [Bug 1246947] [NEW] fwts-efi-runtime-dkms 0.26.08-0ubuntu1: fwts-efi-runtime-dkms kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: This is a build out of ricotz/testing thanks to them and linux my new OS is trashed! Why Part is denied by Ubuntu/raring/main since it is some experimental reject. I was under the stupid assumption that these testing pieces were functional so I built an OS with what I thought was to contain the Gnome 3.10 desktop. Wrong, wrong wrong. Even though the shell was 3.10 the rest was 3.8 just something Gnome can not get right! I had the same issue last time I built, half 3.6 half 3.8. Worked half of the time but not all the time. I hope others read this and consider a boycott on ricotz/testing since their files simply do not work! 3 days ago while building all showed perfectly installed. When I got to the desktop, no difference from 3.8. Next, nothing worked, too many pieces were missing. I found which pieces were missing, installed them and still the desktop was barely functional. Gnome Tweak did not work and tons of crash messages since parts simply did not match up! This is terrible for people that call themselves developers not to be able to keep these files straight so they can properly assemble into a usable desktop. When you have the 3 ppa's from Gnome is exactly like having the 3 stooges. Actually, I think the 3 stooges would know how to put parts together better than this! I am very upset as I have fought for 4 days straight to fix these issues and come up empty handed. I have 4 gigs worth of disk that is not even good enough to be a coaster since this faulty part makes it difficult to begin installing the system! [Bug 1244503] [NEW] clicking hyperlink in firefox logs out of gnome
Public bug reported: Clicking a hyperlink in Firefox sometimes logs me out of GNOME (Classic, i.e. gnome-panel). There is no warning or prompt asking me whether I want to log out or not. I briefly see a black screen with white text similar to the ones you see when shutting down from the command line, then I am shown the typical Ubuntu login manager. I can then log in again. This problem occurs infrequently, and because I am immediately logged out without warning, I cannot view the problematic code in a debugger. Nor does the white text appear long enough for me to read what it says.
