[Bug 1373276] Re: Unable to connect to ethernet with Intel I217-LM

2014-09-28 Thread boulayj
I'm sorry but I don't understand how it works to reverse commit bisect.
Do I need to test each kernel version prior 3.13.11.7 ?

Also, I don't understand this point in the documentation :

"Now one will utilize the git skills learned above in a slightly
different way. This is due to how git was designed with forward
bisections in mind. However, one may utilize git to accomplish a reverse
bisect. So, once Linus's development tree has been cloned:

git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git  &&
cd linux
one would execute at a terminal:

git checkout v3.13-rc5
git bisect start
git bisect good v3.13-rc4
git bisect bad v3.13-rc5
Please notice how v3.13-rc4 was marked good (even though we tested it to be
bad) and v3.13-rc5 was marked bad. This is intentional. If the commit one
builds against next works, one will mark this bad. One will continue this
process until the fix commit is identified."

2014-09-28 Thread boulayj
Yes, I tested kernel version 3.13.0-36-generic, but I got some reliability
issues with this version. The wifi signal was very low compared to the real
signal strengh on other laptop/mobile.
Fixed in version 3.17RC6

[Bug 1372033] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad T540p] Wifi disconnecting every 2 minutes with Intel Wireless 7260AC

2014-09-23 Thread boulayj
Hi Christopher and Seth,

Many thanks for your quick reply.
Yesterday, I've made an update to the latest Bios version.
Here is the result of the command : sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo
dmidecode -s bios-release-date
GMET66WW (2.14 )
07/01/2014

After updating the bios, my wifi connection was even worst, disconnecting every
time.
It seems to be a random behavior, but I noticed that disconnection appear to
increase when the wifi connection is weak

Today, I didn't experience any wifi disconnected but I'm near to the
router. I've noticed the new kernel version and run an upgrade.

I'll keep you informed about the reliability of the wireless connection
Thanks

Using `modinfo iwlwifi` gives me :

filename:
/lib/modules/3.13.0-35-generic/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi.ko
license:GPL
author: Copyright(c) 2003-2013 Intel Corporation

firmware: iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode

I've tried downloading the latest firmware version from intel on
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi.

What is strange is that this package contains iwlwifi-7260-8.ucode when
modinfo gives me iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode

I had already changed UID_MIN to 500, because I encountered the same
issue on Kubuntu 11.10 on my first migrated laptop.

And finally, it seems that the oneiric-proposed has fixed the bug !
I've just forgotten to reboot my laptop !

Many thanks to all for your investigation and to Conor for his fix ;o)

[Bug 874194] Re: indicator-session shows name as "[Invalid UTF-8]" for some users

2011-11-04 Thread boulayj
Hi all,

I've upgraded ubuntu from 11.04 to 11.10
Same issue as everybody, but not fixed with the new indicator-session version .

Description:
I can't see the user on the login screen and the indicator applet shows the
user name as [Invalid UTF-8]
I can't see the user in the users and groups administration

But I can login with this user.

UserId = 500
UID_MIN=500
$LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8

There is only one user declared on the system (so not more than 6)

I've installed d-feet and RealName is ok.
I've installed indicator-session 0.3.7.1-0ubuntu1.1, but it did not fix the
issue :o((

Do you have any other idea ?
