[Bug 1744699] [NEW] cntlm should stop logging every connection attempt

2018-01-22 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

Currently cntlm calls syslog with LOG_DEBUG for each connect, get, post,
etc it makes to the proxy server. This is annoying because it keeps
systemd's journal full of uninteresting messages making finding relevant
ones more difficult. Besides that it should be considered a privacy
issue as well because it keeps records of the times, HTTP operations and
URLs.

There is no easy way too disable it and it should be at least
configurable and not default.

 Importance: Undecided

messages. Isn't this a security hole? I am using Ubuntu 17.10.

[Bug 1731628] Re: Cannot add caldav calendar

2017-11-21 Thread CB
I have a similar problem with Ubuntu 17.10. After pasting my ICS URL
(from Zimbra), the Add button stays grayed out. If I use the read-only
URL (offered by Zimbra, with an .html at the end) it adds the calendar
but no event is shown. And when clinking at the calendar it opens it at
my browser. Besides this it keeps crashing without warning in some
random situations.

[Bug 1587154] [NEW] --working-directory does not work anymore

2016-05-30 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 one of my script the uses
--working-directory option stopped working.

Simply running:

Starts the terminal in my home directory. Changing the command to gnome-
terminal.real does not solve my problem either.

Hi Christopher, the steps are a little confusing for me. I've prepared
the report according to the instructions from Ubuntu's Wiki, but looking
at Intel's instructions it looks like they need other information. I
will have to build and and redo the test using their nightly release. Is
that so? In case yes, I will need a few to more days to be able to test
it properly.

[Bug 1479321] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-09-21 Thread CB
Hi Christopher,

Sometime ago, after I reported this bug, I had already updated my BIOS
to 2.98:

~ $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
K01 v02.98
03/18/2015

Since then I've got less video issues, but I cannot tell if they were
fixed by the BIOS update or by some other update like the new kernel I
have now (3.19).

Those 1-2 minutes freezes definitely have stopped or at least they are
not so frequent. But sometimes my Unity still freezes for a few seconds
like the first time when I press the Super key to bring up the Dash Home
screen or when I run apt-get install and it starts configuring some
package. I don't know if they are related. And also I am still seeing
i915 crashes and errors in dmesg:

[Bug 1489047] [NEW] Character encoding not being detected after upgrading to 38.2.0

2015-08-26 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

After upgrading I started to see strange character in some of my mails.

Examples:
estão
diretório

The message source has:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

If I change 'View Character Encoding' from 'Western' to 'Unicode' the bad
characters get fixed:
estão
diretório

But every time I change to another email, the Character encoding goes
back to 'Western'

It looks like the message encoding not being detected automatically any
more.

[Bug 1333538] Re: Need to enter password twice to login

2014-07-01 Thread CB
The problem does not occur when using GDM (even though my ~/.xsession-
errors contains the same xfdesktop messages).

I don't have scripts in /etc/X11/Xsession.d.

I will check with the XFCE and/or Arch community to further track this
problem down.

[Bug 1333538] [NEW] Need to enter password twice to login

2014-06-24 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

On my Arch Linux system, I need to enter my password twice before I can
login. Note that I need to enter it correctly both times. After the
first time, the screen goes blank for a second and then returns to the
login screen.

I'm using the latest versions lightdm 1:1.10.1-2 and lightdm-
gtk2-greeter 1:1.8.4-2 (and I'm logging into an Xfce session).

I've attached the relevant log file. The x-0-greeter.log contains a few
Gtk warnings:

After adding radeon.dpm=0 to bootline install works fine.
First boot of installed kubuntu 14.04 reboots again after a few seconds.
Adding radeon.dpm=0 to bootline system boots fine.

3.15 also reboots without radeon.dpm=0

root=UUID=4b852540-b06d-4a34-a9d3-e7bf9b1743c2 ro radeon.dpm=0

because kubuntu 12.10 works ok on that pc I also tried
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.12.18-trusty/

that one works without radeon.dpm=0:
uname -a

need to bring the PC to its owner today, so more tests are difficult to
do for me, sorry

[Bug 1309578] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 suddenly reboots when booting from Live USB (AMD APU's)

2014-04-24 Thread cb
Same Problem here. I moved Kubuntu 12.04 from old PC to this new PC, runs
without problem but needed to upgrade to 12.10 because of a softwareproblem.
12.10 also runs without problems.
Because upgrade to 13.10 did not work I installed 14.04 new from USB, install
reboots every few seconds, no matter if I press any button, try to install or
just wait, a few seconds after boot it reboots.

Adding radeon.dpm=0 to boot options solved installer. After install
kubuntu reboots again after a few seconds. Adding radeon.dpm=0 to grub-
boot-line starts ok. Now added radeon.dpm=0 to grub-conf

Hardware:
MSI A78M-E35 (MS-7721) and AMD A4-4020 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics

Also addes dmesg.1.gz from first boot without radeon.dpm=0

Hope this helps somehow, have PC only till tomorrow, it's from my
neighbour

** Attachment added: dmesg.1.gz

[Bug 1309045] Re: Chromium tab crashes when opening any lifehacker.com page

2014-04-17 Thread CB
They seem to be fine:

$ debsums libxcb1
/usr/lib/libxcb.so.1.1.0 OK
/usr/share/doc/libxcb1/copyright OK
/usr/share/doc/libxcb1/changelog.Debian.gzOK

$ debsums libxcb1-dbg
/usr/lib/debug/usr/lib/libxcb.so.1.1.0OK
/usr/share/doc/libxcb1-dbg/copyright OK
/usr/share/doc/libxcb1-dbg/changelog.Debian.gzOK

Now I've noticed that this segmentation fault occurs whenever I run Chromium
with the --single-process flag. So I think it has nothing to do with the
lifehacker.com crashes.

If I run without that flag, I get these errors:

[21419:21419:0417/141426:ERROR:gl_surface_glx.cc(384)] GLX 1.3 or later is
required.
[21419:21419:0417/141426:ERROR:gl_surface_linux.cc(58)]
GLSurfaceGLX::InitializeOneOff failed.

And soon after I get an 'Aw, Snap! crash.

[Bug 312756] Re: MASTER: support graphics card hot switch

2011-01-29 Thread CB
Hello.

I have a Asus Eee PC 1015PN. I run Ubuntu 10.10, 32 bit. Here is the
file DSDT.dsl. I created this file when I used the ION nvidia chip.

On the site

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks#Asus%20Eee%20PC%201015PN

a procedure is described using your ACPI stuff. I have tried this and
everything worked fine (reboot, optimus was visible, etc.). I attached
also a DSDT_ION+Optimus.dsl file with both graphic cards switched on.

However, I couldn't deactivate the nvidia chip at the end via the
command

echo \_SB.PCI0.P0P4.DGPU.DOFF /proc/acpi/call

The system was frozen after 30 seconds. Has somebody an explanation?
Thanks in advance.

[Bug 580110] [NEW] ATI Radeon X200M fails to initalise correctly on kernel 2.6.32-22

2010-05-13 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

When the system is started up on kernel 2.6.32-22, as soon as the login splash
screen is shown the graphics become a complete mess, to the point that what is
shown on the screen bears no relation to what should be being shown. I know
that the login screen is being shown because I can hear the sound telling me
the system is ready. I can login blind and hear the login success sound but the
graphics stay a mess. Attempting to switch to a text console(CTRL+ALT+1) causes
the screen to change, but the graphics are still the same mess and still do not
correspond at all to what should be being shown. This problem never occurred on
2.6.32-21, which I am currently using. The problem also used to occur
intermittently on older kernels (2.6.2x-xx's). With these older kernels
changing resolution or graphics mode(some full screen applications) also used
to cause the problem.
I have a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop with Radeon Xpress X200M graphics. The problem
occurs with both the internal LCD and an external VGA monitor.
I am afraid I cannot run apport-collect or provide dmesg, uname -a, etc. output
as I have no coherent graphical output while running under the problem kernel.
I have attached lspci output while the system is running under 2.6.32-21.

[Bug 402095] [NEW] sun-java6-jre license screen is confusing

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntu-restricted-extras
