[Bug 1973117] Re: Screen sharing switch does not work in Budgie 22.04

2022-05-18 Thread Chandra
Tested from Proposed PPA and screen sharing changes seem to be working
fine.

Version tested:
budgie-control-center/jammy-proposed,now 1.0.1-2ubuntu2 amd64

---

[Test Plan]

 * Without the package update the follow issue occurs:
   1. Open budgie-control-center - choose the Sharing side tab
   2. Slide the switch toggle on the headerbar to enable the other sharing
options below
   3. click on the Screensharing -> arrow
   4. This will open a dialog
   5. Attempt to click the switch toggle on the new dialog to enable sharing.
This will be disabled which means sharing is disabled
   6. Close budgie-control-center and restart budgie-control-center again
   7. Note that screensharing will have a "no" next to the arrow.

[Test Result]: screen sharing toggle is disabled and does not turn on.

   8. Confirm this by trying to remmina (or using your favourite VNC client) to
the desktop VNC Name / IP Address

[Test Result]: Remmina cannot connect to the test machine's screen sharing.

 * Enable the proposed repo and then install the updates - the following
packages
   needs to be installed

   sudo apt install budgie-control-center budgie-control-center-data

 * Test screensharing:
 1. Open budgie-control-center - choose the Sharing side tab
 2. Slide the switch toggle on the headerbar to enable the other sharing
options below
 3. click on the Screensharing -> arrow
 4. This will open a dialog
 5. Click the switch toggle on the new dialog to enable sharing.
 6. Close budgie-control-center and restart budgie-control-center again
 7. Note "Yes" will be shown next the the screensharing -> arrow.

[Test Result]:
Screen sharing toggle is enabled and turns on when clicked.

 8. Confirm sharing is enabled by trying to remmina (or using your favourite
VNC client) to the desktop VNC Name / IP Address
 9. Confirm the other options shown in the dialog work as expected i.e.
disconnect first from remmina, change the option and connect.

[Test Result]:
Remmina from another machine connects to screen sharing via VNC successfully.
Remmina does not connect by RDP.

 * Regression testing
The testing to ensure no regressions occur in this area.
1. Connect to the screensharing host with the other sharing options

[Test Result]:

Allow connections to control the screen: Works. When toggled on, can
control sharing machine via mouse and keyboard on connecting machine.
Control not available when toggled off.

New connections must ask for access: Works. When toggled on, request
pops up on sharing machine. Sharing works on accepting.

Require a password: Works. When toggled on, password input on sharing
machine needs entered on connecting machine to start sharing.

Show password: Works. Toggles display of password input.

Networks: Not available. There was a networks selection option in
earlier Ubuntu versions that does not show here.

File Sharing: Works. Public folder on sharing machine accessible from
connecting machine when switch is toggled on.

Require password: Works.

Media Sharing: Toggle works.
Could not test actual sharing from other media devices.

[Bug 1973117] [NEW] Screen sharing switch does not work in Budgie 22.04

2022-05-11 Thread Chandra
Public bug reported:

The screen sharing switch does not work in Budgie control center and
hence no screen sharing is possible. The toggle to switch on screen
sharing is disabled.

Ubuntu 22.04 seems to have RDP as default sharing option. The share
settings screen looks very different in some videos about standard
Ubuntu 22.04, but Budgie’s seems the same as earlier Ubuntu versions.

[Bug 1923419] [NEW] FP identification is not working immediately after entering wrong password

2021-04-12 Thread prafulla chandra kota
Public bug reported:

Issue: FP identification is not working immediately after entering wrong
password

System prerequisite: FP enrolled on system, Identify works fine.
OS: Verified on: 20.04 PPA release.
• Lock the screen
• Enter wrong regular password and press enter.
• Observe that "please try again" error is shown.
• Now try to login using enrolled FP. Observe that FP gets detected (FW
uart log shows that FP is detected) but there will be no change in the login
screen.
• Need to enter password to login into user account or Hit enter again,
login screen will show the Swipe your finger option and FP identify works.
Attached the fprintd debug log.
Events actions are mentioned with this symbol <==> at attached output.
Post wrong password attempt, FW is immediately ready to capture the finger, but
host is saying device is already claimed and acquiring after hitting enter key
again.

[Bug 1923418] [NEW] Fingerprint identification not working when system is idle without screen going blank

2021-04-12 Thread prafulla chandra kota
Public bug reported:

Issue: Fingerprint identification not working when system is idle without
screen going blank
Setup
System prerequisite: FP enrolled on system, Identify works fine.
OS: Verified on: 20.04 PPA release.
Steps to reproduce:
• Now lock the user again. Select the User.
• Leave the laptop idle for 30sec, swipe mouse across and don’t allow the
system to go for sleep for 30 seconds. Place the enrolled FP on reader post 30
seconds.
• Observe that FP doesn't get detected at login screen.
• Need to enter password to login into user account.
• Note: "Swipe finger" option at login screen is still shown even if FP
doesn't get detected
Attached the fprintd debug log.

Events actions are mentioned with this symbol <==> at attached output.

<==> Some timeout is observed and after this Host is releasing the device and
Identification is working only after hitting Enter key to start identification
process, timeout is not generated from FW and FW is ready to accept the finger
swipe.

[Bug 1882878] Re: The user panel let you enroll the same finger several times

2021-01-20 Thread prafulla chandra kota
FP_DEVICE_ERROR_DATA_DUPLICATE error is added in libfprint 1.90.3
version, but when driver is returned this error, UI is not showing as
duplicate finger error and showing Fingerprint enroll is failed, UI
should show proper error here.

And also, post this failure, next finger enrollment is failed until
system restart.

[Bug 1899779] [NEW] Finger Print authentication doesn't work after logout in linux

2020-10-14 Thread prafulla chandra kota
Public bug reported:

Setup: Dell laptop with inbuilt fingerprint module
Below modules installed:
1) fprintd (1.90.1-1ubuntu1)
2) libpam-fprintd (1.90.1-1ubuntu1)
3) libfprint-2-tod-dev (1:1.90.2+tod1-0ubuntu1~20.04.1)
4) Installed Broadcom TOD driver

Test procedure steps:

Logout from the user
Try to authenticate with enrolled FP
Observe that FP authentication allows login, but immediately asks for user
password with error, attached screenshot of error
"The login keyring did not get unlocked when you logged into your computer"

journlctl log didn't had any specific errors mentioned and log comes out is
same for regular FP identify and post log-off and FP identify.

[Bug 1897693] [NEW] Fingerprint enroll progress is NOT displayed for immediate 2nd fingerprint enrollment

2020-09-29 Thread prafulla chandra kota
Public bug reported:

Fingerprint enroll progress is NOT displayed for immediate 2nd fingerprint
enrollment with out closing the FP GUI.
2nd finger enrollment: After first swipe of 2nd FP, even though progress is not
displayed on circle for 2nd fingerprint, it is properly enrolled after
continuous swipe and later it will be identified, but user will have confusion
about appearance that is the 2nd finger enrollment is happening or not.

Steps to reproduce:
Enroll 1st FP ==> enrollment progress is shown on circle, after it completes,
don't close GUI, proceed with 2nd finger enrollment
Enroll the second FP ==> observe that enrollment progress is NOT shown on
circle, but if we keep on placing finger, after few attempts, finger will be
enrolled.

verified on two DELL models
model-1: latitude 7300: 2nd fp enrollment progress is shown for 1 or 2 swipes,
but didn't completed the progress circle.
model-2: latitude 7520: 2nd fp enrollment progress is NOT shown at all

Both cases 2nd FP enrollment is done and later it is also identified,
only progress is NOT displayed.

journlctl --unit fprintd.service was shown the messages of fingerprint
enroll swipes properly with out any issues

"Capture initiated, please place your finger now n the sensor now" for all
swipes.

** Description changed:

  Observation:

It is observed that finger print sensor is disabled after few failure
attempts not in sequence with a count of some number of attempts.

Is there any such count requirement of disabling Fingerprint sensor for
few seconds after some incorrect failure attempts not in sequence with a
count of "X" ?, it is observed failure with below sequence:

WF - wrong finger, CF - correct finger

WF, WF, CF, WF, WF, CF, WF, WF, CF, WF, WF, CF, WF, WF, CF, WF, WF, CF,
  WF, WF, CF, WF, WF

I have looked at fprintd service logs from host and didn't observed any
different commands received from host when the fingerprint is disabled
  for few seconds.

Need some clarity on behavior of this feature and if there is any
document or link explains the requirements of Fingerprint application
behavior will be helpful in understanding the host behavior.

Kindly let me know if i can provide any extra information.

  Thanks,
  Prafulla Kota

Re: [Bug 1893601] Re: 4k not working

2020-08-30 Thread VIMALRAJ CHANDRA SEKARAN
Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your quick response. The details are here.

1. Selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen. Do you now get
4K modes offered in Settings?
- I don't see any Wayland option. The max resolution at Display
Settings is 1080p.

2. Run:
   grep . /sys/class/drm/*/modes > kernel-modes.txt
- Attached the file.

Thanks and Regards,
Vimal Raj

[Bug 1893059] [NEW] Need information: Finger print sensor disabled after some incorrect failure attempts either consecutively or not in sequence with a count of some number

2020-08-26 Thread prafulla chandra kota
Public bug reported:

[Bug 1872796] Re: gnome-shell animations are noticeably stuttery when the Ubuntu extensions are enabled

2020-05-09 Thread Manuj Chandra Sharma
Hi,

I don't know if this is going to help, but I was experience a similar
problem in Popos 20.04. In my case, the misbehaving app turned out to be
Mega from mega.nz which I use for cloud sync.

Their ubuntu 20.04 deb package causes noticeable stuttering. After
disabling the app the desktop becomes smooth again. After enabling it
again the computer becomes fast and smooth.

This problem did not exist in 19.10 using mega's deb for 19.10.

The stuttering happens across the board, in every activity randomly.

Thanks.

OK. I have installed the chromium-broswer beta using

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:saiarcot895/chromium-beta

and installed Chromium 37. I can confirm that the problem then
disappears.

Which ppa should I use if I wanted Chromium 35?

Thanks.

[Bug 596476] Re: kdiff3 empty printout to PDF

2012-11-05 Thread Venkat Chandra
In case anyone is interested, I was able to workaround this problem. I
had to build kdiff3 from source after making a small change. YMMV, since
I have not done extensive testing, nor have I done any checks to see
what sort of side-effects my code change may have. Here's what I did:

1. Download kdiff3 source tarball. (kdiff3-0.9.97.tar.gz)
2. tar xvzf kdiff3-0.9.97.tar.gz
3. cd kdiff3-0.9.97/src-QT4
4. Open file kdiff3.cpp
5. Change line number 869 from:
#ifdef KREPLACEMENTS_H
to:
#ifndef KREPLACEMENTS_H
6. Follow the directions in the README file under the kdiff3-0.9.97 directory
(the section under Requirements Installation) to build kdiff3.
7. The newly built kdiff3 will print to pdf as one would expect.

Let me know if you are able to get this to work.

[Bug 970139] Re: apt_check.py crashed with SIGSEGV in pkgPolicy::GetCandidateVer()

2012-08-24 Thread R (Chandra) Chandrasekhar
I have experienced this bug and it has resulted in the following
consequences on my Kubuntu 12.04 amd64 system:

1. Inability to update or upgrade with

apt-get update apt-get upgrade

See example below for error message.

2. Error when trying to install or reinstall any existing package. For
instance

sudo apt-get install --reinstall update-notifier-common

gives

---

Need to get 0 B/222 kB of archives.

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
---

For the record, I was told during some upgrade that libhal1 was not
needed and could be removed by

sudo apt-get autoremove

and the above error must have resulted from that operation.

3. The system runs but is flaky.

4. I have a new system disk that is less than three months old and is
unlikely to be the cause of the above problems.

5. It appears that I need to re-install my system (sigh).

If there is any workaround, I will appreciate knowing about it.

Thank.s

[Bug 1005649] Re: bluetooth software not working on Linux Mint 13 MATE

2012-08-05 Thread Ganesh Chandra Patro
Hi,
I am having a 32 bit installation of Mate 13 Maya. Having same problem. Options
dialog does not open on clicking the bluetooth icon in tray. But as suggested
things work from command line, and I am able to connect to devices and internet
with this temporary solution. I am waiting for this bug to close.

Please let me know, if I can help. Please get me the source, I will give a try.
Thanks
Ganesh

[Bug 1012167] Re: Version of PDFSam in the repository is incredibly old

2012-07-31 Thread R (Chandra) Chandrasekhar
+1 from me. I have followed the instructions at:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9109328postcount=5

but would prefer not to have a workaround.

Thanks.

[Bug 915235] Re: muon-installer crash

2012-04-29 Thread R (Chandra) Chandrasekhar
Following up on my report

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/muon/+bug/915235/comments/12

I re-installed Kubuntu 12.04 from the alternate CD and can now report
that the problem is no more.

Perhaps the first installation was corrupted in some way that is not
reproducible.

Sorry for the false alarm.

2012-04-07 Thread Jagadish G Chandra
Hi Friends, I am a 11.10 user, and I am no techie but a lay person and an
ardent campaigner of open source free soft ware, earlier I was using the 11.04
and the IBUS+Itrans(m17n) was fine , but now it is irritating that the Kannada
fonts that are very crucial for to write articles as I am a language
Journalist. I have the same problem of unnecessary and unwanted space in
between the letters while typing Kannada words.
Example: ಅನಿವ ರ್ I have typed Aniver but in Kannada it has come out as Anive r,
the space is unwanted.
I need urgent solution.
