[Bug 740506]

2012-09-17 Thread Chpe
qt can link to openssl because its lgpl licence has an openssl
exception, and not because dlopening would make it not 'link' to
openssl. poppler has no such openssl exception; and even if it did, that
wouldn't help the programmes using poppler which are gpl (e.g. evince)
without such an exception.

[Bug 539226]

2011-03-27 Thread Chpe
The patch as checked in still is full of debugging g_warnings()s; I
think they should be removed, as the reviewer in comment 5 and comment
16 also said.

MapGIOResult(gint) converts GIOErrorEnum codes to nsresult, but
MapGIOResult(GError*) hands it any GError's ->code without first
checking that ->domain == G_IO_ERROR (there's no guarantee all those gio
functions only return G_IO_ERROR errors).

[Bug 455614] [NEW] don't mess with the pc file

2009-10-19 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

libsm-dev contains the sm.pc pkg-config file. This file has been changed
from upstream's by moving the ice dependency from Requires to
Requires.private. (The patch originated from debian.) This breaks
building other packages that reasonably expect the pc file to be
unmodified from upstream [e.g.

Please revert this change before karmic final!

[Bug 403186] Re: gnome-terminal doesn't start

2009-07-24 Thread chpe
There is no need to ask the bug reporter for these, or any, details.
Just do a bit of research!

This bug is
(a) known upstream,
(b) fixed upstream since 2.24.1, but
(c) the fix is reverted by a patch in the ubuntu package.

So this is entirely ubuntu's fault.

[Bug 353949] Re: Ubuntu 9.04/64bits: gnome-web-photo fails to produce JPEG-image.

2009-04-25 Thread chpe
The error indicates to me that the libjpeg ABI (on 64bit at least) changed
between the version the g-w-p package was built against, and the one that's
installed now. A simple rebuild of the package should solve this specific
problem.
(The ABI break _also_ needs to be dealt with in the involved package's
version/conflicts/etc, obviously.)

[Bug 326920] Re: cant take the next card from the pack although there is another one

2009-04-15 Thread chpe
This shouldn't have been closed for supposed 'lack of information'.
Comment 0 contains everything necessary to diagnose the problem.

Reporter: this is simply a misunderstanding on your part of the game
rules. The statusbar clearly says "Verbleibende Neuverteilungen: 0"
which mean that you cannot re-deal. There are cards under the top one,
but if you want to get to them, you have to move the top to another
stack (which was impossible in this case).

If you want unlimited re-deals, you could choose the 3-card option from
the Klondike menu before making the first move in a newly started game.

2008-08-06 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xulrunner-1.9

Please include the patch from debian's xulrunner 1.9 package that adds
the "nsIBadCertListener" interface back to xulrunner. That way, browsers
other than firefox that want to support a sane certificates UI (e.g.
epiphany which will pick this support up automatically via a configure
check for its 2.24 version) can do so. Note that this does not affect
browsers like firefox that do want the new insane UI; it will still

[Bug 62802] Re: [-dev] include static libraries: libxpcomglue.a, libxpcomglue_s.a

2007-02-20 Thread chpe
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340446 is about installing
these static libs. But upstream doesn't seem to care about make install;
and it surely can be fixed without upstream.

[Bug 62802] Re: missing static libraries

2007-02-18 Thread chpe
This is NOT an upstream bug. Those libraries are built; the bug is that
ubuntu's firefox[-dev] package doesn't contain them.

[Bug 80780] uses unusual units to report memory and disk sizes

2007-01-20 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

GNOME system monitor displays sizes in the binary SI units (KiB, MiB,
etc) while no other GNOME programme does so. Upstream insists on this
[see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=318718], but that's no
reason not to make Ubuntu more self-consistent by applying the trivial
patch that I'm going to attach.

[Bug 74725] please drop 03_dbus.patch

2006-12-06 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

Running with a private instance automatically when the session bus isn't
available is not the right thing to do. It will lead to the user changes (esp.
bookmarks set) during the session to NOT be preserved for the next run.
(Also the dialogue added isn't i18n'd.)

[Bug 61104] Re: Build process of firefox trunk is broken with both gcc 4.1.1 and gcc 4.0 !

2006-10-26 Thread chpe
Actually the latest firefox source in edgy (firefox_2.0+0dfsg-
0ubuntu3.diff.gz) still has the bug, since the configure test (which is
taken from gecko trunk) still contains this bashism:

+ if test `grep -c "@PLT" conftest.S` == 0; then

This causes the gcc bug to go undetected.

[Bug 65073] missing gtk-doc documentation

2006-10-10 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dbus-glib-1-dev

The dbus-glib documentation (html and devhelp files) aren't shipped in
any packages. It seems the upstream tarball is missing them too (built
without --enable-gtk-doc?) but they exist in the upstream git repo.

[Bug 63814] Re: please include patch for a highly visible crash in epiphany

2006-10-05 Thread chpe
The build error isn't related to the patch. It looks more like bug
#61104 to me, i.e. due to symbol hiding not working correctly with
edgy's gcc...

[Bug 63443] don't enable gnome-keyring support in eds

2006-10-01 Thread chpe
Public bug reported:

I think eds shouldn't be compiled with gnome-keyring support enabled, for two
reasons:
0) dataloss: eds does NOT migrate existing account passwords to gnome-keyring!
If the user is lucky, he'll remember his password (I didn't, but got them from
~/.gnome2-private/Evolution and could decode them)
1) evolution hangs while interacting with gnome-keyring (upstream bug
