Public bug reported: Hi Ubuntu, Just found out today that when using Ubuntu Xenial HWE kernel 4.13 in a VM on top of Proxmox VE 5.1.x, the direct synchronous write performance is 93% slower than on kernel 4.4. Kernel 4.13 direct sync 4KB write could only achieve 303KB/s while kernel 4.4 could achieve 4.5MB/s. The VM is using ext4 filesystem and running on top of ZFS ZVOL on ZFS RAID1 with virtio-scsi, qemu disk cache none, and qemu disk discard enabled. The underlying physical disks are Samsung Enterprise SSD SM863a 480GB series. The reason I need to run kernel 4.13 to mount CephFS Luminous with kernel client. Hopefully CephFS Luminous kernel client will be back ported to kernel 4.4 in the near future. Is this from Ubuntu Xenial kernel 4.13 performance regression or from Proxmox VE 5.1 kernel 4.13 virtio-scsi performance regression? Public bug reported: dear all, i've been experiencing technical problems with copy/paste from PDF -opened both by acroread and evince- to OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet with fixed width option in paste special. On Lucid Maverick, by opening the PDF and copy it and paste it to spreadsheet, although I have chosen fixed width, the results were pasted with left alignment without tab or space like the sources. On Hardy, I could easily copy the content of the PDF and pasted it into spreadsheet and have the right fixed width. I could separated each collum just fine. I tried to install Hardy on Lucid Maverick using Virtualbox, and I found out that when I opened and copied the PDF on Hardy, and pasted it to Spreadsheet on Lucid/Maverick, the fixed width worked as it should be! I guess there's something changed with the copy buffer in Lucid Maverick as I recall I could still copy paste fixed width PDF to Spreadsheet on Karmic and Jaunty. Hope this will be figured out since windows produced the same results as Lucid Maverick. [Bug 581551] [NEW] brasero could not burn multiple CDs on lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero i need to burn the same folder with files for 60 CDs. i'm running ubuntu 10.04 with latest update up to May 17, 2010, 10:49am. To my surprise, it could not do multiple CDs burning though I had already choose to burn several copies or burn other copies. Aftter burning one disc, the brasero told me that it could not eject the cd automatically and i had to do it manually. After I manually ejected the cd and enter a new blank cd to be written to, brasero didn't do anything except kept telling me to input new cd. The thing is, with ubuntu 8.04, brasero can burn multiple CDs, so I know in this very new version of brasero could also burn multiple CDs. There's also no option for validity test after burning in ubuntu lucid. So I switched to Nero Linux 4 trial version. It has bugs too, with burning multiple cds, for every 5th CD burned, one will fail.
