since applying the update CCSM occasionally freezes when enabling a plug-in and will crash the desktop I can still get to a console (ttty3) where I have tried restarting lightdm and restarting the X-server and compiz, sometimes sudo restart lightdm does get the desktop going again, but usually I have to sudo reboot. Re: [Bug 951829] Re: indicator-datetime-service crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance_cast()
Hi Charles since the error report you are referring to i have completely reinstalled 12.04 upgraded to beta 1 release . when i had the problem with evolution and the indicator I had installed the evolution RSS feed reader and the Evolutin ubuntu-one couchdb extension I also had Thunderbird running to handle my GMail account. the Ubuntu-one extension in evolution would not work and still will not . I then managed to get Gmail working in Evolution via the Gnome online Accounts. Having got Evolution to handle Gmail I decided to uninstall Thunderbird, this is the point where the problem appeared i wonder if I accidentally uninstalled something common to both application's. though I don’t have any idea what . sine reinstalling apart from the ubuntu-one issue everything is fine. I think this was probably a problem of my own making and since reinstalling have left Thunderbird alone. As everything is OK otherwise I am going to leave ti that way. thank's for your time -- John Clifford Tinker On Fri, 2012-03-30 at 00:51 +, Charles Kerr wrote: > cliff, you mentioned you were having other problems with evolution > calendar too, could you go into more detail on that? > > Also, is this crash repeatable? [Bug 962909] [NEW] miro.real crashed with SIGSEGV
Private bug reported: after subscribeing to a podcast channel i tried to play a youtube video at which the application became unresponsive it hung for about a minute before crashing. it has done this before when performing other actions for instace when i first installed the app i had it search my pc for all video files, on this occasion it performed about two thirds of the search and became unresponsive. this has also happened several other times, not always caused by the same action. it seems to me that there must be a general fault with the app or maybe it clashes with something running in the background. j c tinker (cliff) ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: miro 4.0.4-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-20.32-generic 3.2.12 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-20-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx ApportVersion: 1.95-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CrashCounter: 1 Date: Fri Mar 23 08:39:48 2012 Disassembly: => 0x7f6ef1c884c6: Cannot access memory at address 0x7f6ef1c884c6 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/miro.real InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha amd64 (20120201.2) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python2.7 ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/miro.real ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB:en LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash Signal: 11 SourcePackage: miro StacktraceTop: ?? This is a known issue and is expected to be fixed prior to the Precise release. We knew of this bug before updating to this driver, but made the decision to proceed because the previous version did not work at all with 1.11 due to ABI incompatibilities. Historically, fglrx pretty much always breaks during development, because we update the xserver and then it takes some months to get a new driver from ATI. This time we're lucky in that the driver mostly works.
