[Bug 1775999] Re: Cannot set vino preferences in Lubuntu 18.04

2018-10-12 Thread cmcanulty
I had that same issue with xubuntu after 18.04 upgrade. First install
vino. Mine was removed on upgrade without any notice. Also even after
installing vino, the command vino-preferences doesn't work. Here is an
easy workaround. Install dconf-editor then open it and go to org-gnome-
desktop-remote access and turn off encryption. There are also several
other remote options you can set in dconf-editor. However until you
install vino, the remote-access doesn't show in dconf-editor. I hope
someone can explain what happened to vino-preferences.

[Bug 944040] Re: Cannot connect to RDP if host fingerprint changes

2016-06-15 Thread cmcanulty
Good news, the problem disappeared after upgrade to 16.04 (lots of other
system bugs appeared however). Now I can reliably connect via remmina
with vnc and xrdp with no tweaks at all. However it does pop up with an
irritating message with every connection saying the certificate has
changed and I have to click OK. But I can live with that now that
everything else works on remmina.

[Bug 944040] Re: Cannot connect to RDP if host fingerprint changes

2015-08-04 Thread cmcanulty
I also have this problem in xubuntu 14.04 the above patch did nothing
for me. I have to remove known_hosts before every rdp windows connection
(not for remote xubuntu) then it asks for a certificate OK every time.
Very irritating as I manage 17 remote computers, but worse is how long
it took to even find the known_hosts tweak. One windows 7 I can never
connect to even after triple checking every possible cause. Please fix
this soon.

My mouse and trackpad don't work after hibernate. Only a restart or
command modprobe psmouse gets them working again. Running Lucid.

[Bug 175503] Re: User-friendly automounting of ntfs partitions with an unclean logfile

2009-12-11 Thread cmcanulty
I can't get any of 3 ext ntfs hard drives to mount and yes they were
cleanly removed from windows. I have downloaded about every possible
ubuntu utility. So I can never back up and this is driving me crazy!!!
All 3 drives work fine in windows.

[Bug 486140] Re: external hard disk Automatically Unmounting

2009-11-21 Thread cmcanulty
Same with my Maxtor and a western digital ext HD. Ubuntu really needs a
patch or a small program for dummies like me to set drive spindowns to
not unmount ext HDs makes backing up near to impossible and I don't
think just not buying these 2 major barnd ext HDs is the answer if
Ubuntu wants to keep users from returning to windows, thanks

[Bug 383686] Re: usb storage device unmounts itself while copying and gives I/O error

2009-10-09 Thread cmcanulty
This is a serious issue I have been seeking help in the forums and no
fix. Both my external hard drives randomly unmount in Jaunty.I can never
get a backup to finish. They also unmount if I try to copy and paste my
files to them. Both work fine in winows XP. I have tried every backup
program I can find and various mount tools but nothing works.Same
unmounting occurs if I try copying and paste to ext HD. I have 70GB of
critical files that I can't back up as I lost all my old backups by
reformatting the ext HDs trying to fix this. This is serious enough for
me to drop Ubuntu if a fix doesn't come.
