Public bug reported: I've had this bug since 10.04. Basically, I get a VPN service won't start. If there is something I need to install or configure, I'd love a pointer to the correct information. I am currently on 12.04. [Bug 925171] Re: After Firefox Upgrade, Bookmarks Wiped Out, and No Bookmarks can be Created
I fixed this by completely uninstalling/removing firefox using Syanptic; then re-installing, and taking the .mozilla/firefox directory from working Ubuntu 10.04 system and replacing the one on my affected system. I revisited this. I used Applications --> Accessories --> Passwords and Encryption keys. I see where a connection's read and write properties could be checked. However, my vpn connection is not present in this list. So, when created, it's never getting there. Any ideas on how to get it there by hand configuration? I found the keys at Applications -> Accesories -> Passwords and Encryption Key, but there is no freedesktop there. Network manager allows me to configure a VPN connection, but the process fails to complete. I can connect using Windows XP using the same VPN IP address, user name, and password. I use single and multiple tabs and tend not to bring up multiple instances. On a regular basis, address completion stops. I close out Firefox, start a new instance, and all is well. I also have this problem. I run sudo /sbin/alsa force-reload to get the sound back. This is on 9.10 on System76 Gazelle Ultra hardware.
