[Bug 317029] Re: Templates for 2009 missing

2009-03-14 Thread coastgnu
taxbird ver. 0.12

Taxbird needs an update to version 0.12

---8--- http://www.taxbird.de/download.html#geier ---8--
Installation unter Ubuntu GNU/Linux

Taxbird ist seit hardy (Version 8.04) Teil der Ubuntu GNU/Linux
Distribution. Allerdings ist momentan nur Version 0.11 enthalten (die
nur die 2008er Erklärungen übermitteln kann).

Mario Guenterberg hat unter http://packages.havelsoft.org passende
Pakete der Version 0.12 zum Download bereitgestellt.

---8--- http://www.taxbird.de/download.html#geier ---8--

The above link is broken.
ATM there is no way to do a German tax declaration with taxbird!

Please remove taxbird or update to 0.12

Re: [Bug 318689] Re: gnome-system-log attempts to open bogus/inexistent logfiles

2009-03-07 Thread coastgnu
[...]
 - run gnome-system-log --version
gnome-system-log - Version 2.25.92
...

(btw. was upgraded after my last bugreport update)

 - run gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gnome-system-log and try to
start gnome-system-log and see if there is an error -
No error at all.

log as a new user or
use a guest session and start gnome-system-log and see if you get an error
and then update the bug with those informations?
No error at all.

- My system is an 8.04 Hardy Heron installation upgraded to 8.10 Intrepid
Ibex. In the moment its permanently upgraded to 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope.

May be the wrong variable type Integer I've seen for the filelist variable
results from one of the previous upgrades? Or could it be that gconf-editor
always asumes an empty string variable to be of type integer intead an empty
string variable?

Nevertheless, good to know that there might be a wrong variable type for
filelist of gnome-system-log.

thomas

 no it doesn't
Shure?

Before sending bug report I did the following:

- run gnome-system-log
it shows the known list of nonexistant logfiles

- run gconf-editor and deleted '/apps/gnome-system-log/logfiles' value
btw. it was empty but it says it is of the type bolean, strange I would say
  nevertheless I deleted the value

- restarted gconf-editor and it attempts to open the bogus input files again
  ('/apps/gnome-system-log/logfiles' value was empty)

- did a reboot

- '/apps/gnome-system-log/logfiles' shows the list as in
  --8--from gnome-system-log --8--, see below.

- deleted nonexistant files in '/apps/gnome-system-log/logfiles'

- restarting gnome-system-log and voilla, no complains about nonexistant files
  anymore

---8--- from gnome-system-log ---8---
Could not open the following files:
/var/log/XFree86.0.log: Fehler beim Untersuchen der Datei
/var/log/XFree86.0.log mit fstat(): No such file or directory
/var/log/cron: Fehler beim Untersuchen der Datei /var/log/cron mit fstat(): No

fstat(): No such file or directory
/var/log/sys.log: Fehler beim Untersuchen der Datei /var/log/sys.log mit
fstat(): No such file or directory
---8--- ---8--- ---8---

So I would say at least for the first run gnome-system-log uses the hardcoded
logfile-list nevertheless if thes exist or not.

[Bug 333511] [NEW] kmail system folders (inbox, send, draft, ....) are sorted amongst oteher folders

2009-02-23 Thread coastgnu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdepim

Paket Name: kmail
Release:Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty
Version:4:4.2.0-0ubuntu8
LANG=de_DE

I expect kmail to sort its system folders on top of all other folders.

But, system folders (Posteingang/inbox, Postausgang/outbox,
Entwürfe/draft, Vorlagen/templates, Versendete Nachrichten/sent,
Mülleimer/trash) are sorted amongst all other folders.

Dragging the system folders on top of the list, leaving kmail and
restarting kmail doesn't help. After a restart all folders are sorted in
alphabetical order again. No matter if it are system folders or not.

[Bug 310001] [NEW] orphaned inodes

2008-12-20 Thread coastgnu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

After a while mythbackend needs a restart.
If not the whole partition get's filled up with orphaned inodes.

Paket Name: mythtv
Release:Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty (same on Intrepid)
Version:0.21.0+fixes19136-0ubuntu2 (also with the Intrepid packages)

- Filesystem is ext3
- deleting recordings from the mythtv menu it shows that only ~100kB from a
several GigB recording
is shown as new free space on that drive
- the same shows a df -h
- after
sudo /etc/init.d/mythbackend stop
  and
sudo /etc/init.d/mythbackend start
most of the orphaned inodes are free again, most of them not all of them
- after a reboot fschk reports and repairs the last orphaned inodes
(uid and gid is of the inodes is the mythtv users / group id)

I remember this misbehaviour of mythbackend was reported long ago (myth 0.17?
0.18?)
IMO It is not a filsystem related problem due to the fact that a restart of
mythbackend solves the problem.

2008-09-05 Thread coastgnu
+1 confirm this bug

All operations, adding, removing kernel images fail due to the missing
kernel-helper script if grub2 is in use

An apt-file search kernel-helper says:
 grub: /usr/sbin/kernel-helper

So I copied a kernel-helper script from another machine and it works.

Solution is:
Add the kernel helper script from the package grub to the package grub2.

[Bug 232243] Re: Firefox always starts in work offline mode

2008-05-23 Thread coastgnu
Paket Name: firefox
Release:Ubuntu 8.04 hardy
Version:3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3

I can confirm this bug.
Once the Offline-Mode is enabled firefox stays in offline-mode on every start
even when offline-mode is disabled when leaving a firefox session. Offline-mode
has to be disabled on every startup.

Irritating to me is that in all prefs.js files it is set to false:

 user_pref(browser.offline, false);

I Did a:
find $HOME/mozilla/ -exec grep -iH offline {} \;

the problem with that package being uninstalled?

Yes, also on other machines where only audacious, audacious-plugins and
audacious-plugins-extra are installed.

In sum three Machines, ASUS M2N-E SLI, BIOSTAR KM266, SOYO SY-KT400 Dragon
Ultra, all with onboard soundchip only.

What I saw so far is:
- audacious starts only once.
- It plays just one track, this after after setting audio output to
pulseaudio. It crashed trying to play a second track.
- Then it segfaults on every startup.
- Deleting the .audacious directory doesn't help.

[Bug 192476] Re: selecting CHANEL# doesn't work anymore

2008-04-22 Thread coastgnu
After deleting all Channels and rescaning it works again.
This bug is the result of an update only of tv channels via mythtv-setup (scan
for channels, minimal changes)
Chanels have to be deleted and rescanned afterwards.

Bug may be closed.

At the URL you mentioned I don't find a description how to do a backtrace for
this case.

gdm is started on startup, the description for backtraces or valgrind are for
applications which are started on users request but not for applications like
gdm / gdmgreater which start automatically.

A helping hand would be good to have...

I found the reason for the sigsevs, I think.

During one of the last system starts X failed to enabe DRI support of fglrx
(/usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so).
Mythfrontend worked as a charm.

Enabling DRI again the problem came back. Mythfrontend can't be closed,
leaving mythfrontend won't close it's fullscreen-window. CPU% usage goes up
to 90% and more. Only Ctrl+C will stop Mythfrontend. And again every
third or second stop of mythtvfrontend caues a sigsev.

If I use gdb for backtracking as described on:
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace
The message The program is running. Exit anyway? (y or n) comes up _after_
I stopped mythfrontend.real by pressing Ctrl+C

thomas

Mythfilldatabase crashed when it is invoked from mythtv-setup at the end of
the session.

The daily mythfilldatabase run done by cron produces no sigsev.
So I'm a bit lost here how to produce a backtrace.
Any hints are welconme. :)

May be it is related with #192476?
This because I tried to fix the channel list in mythtv-setup when
mythfilldatabase crashed.

I attached
 select * from channel;
and
 select * from dtv_multiplex;

 Did you change them?

No definetely not, I don't change elf-binaries, and never did.

The only changes I made are for /usr/share/mythtv/themes/Gray-OSD/osd.xml
and ./osd-bar-mid.png. I modified osd.xml and stretched osd-bar-mid.png
vertically.

But may be that a system process changes elf-binaries, e.g. striping debug
code for optimisation.

2008-02-03 Thread coastgnu
Hi Daniel

This hapens during ordinary gnome sessions and only running mythtv from time
to time (Audio setting in mythtv: alsa:default). Mythtv is the only 'audio'
application running.

But also overnight when the system is idle there are such logwatch entries
every 30 / 60 seconds.

Also defining another icon doesn't work anymore.

Before the upgrade opening Properties of a launcher on the desktop and
clicking on the icon allows to set another icon.
This doesn't work anymore.

[Bug 186274] [NEW] set uuid for swap-partition, mkswap-uuid patch by drbl (clonezilla) project

2008-01-26 Thread coastgnu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: util-linux

See also:
- Debian bug-tracker [1]
- mkswap-uuid patched mkswap by the National Venter for High-performance
Computing (NCHC) Taiwan [2]

Description_
mkswap can't create a predefined uuid for a new swap partition.
But mkswap-uuid offered by the drbl project (clonezilla) [2] does!

I've been told the patch is quite simplistic so it weould be good to
have it in hardy before eature freeze.

Solution:
 patch mkswap as NCHC-TW did.

Affects also:
This would also be a help for other bugs regarding swap-parition uuids in
ubuntu.
#9052626 Routine fsck deactivates swap, changing UUID
#66637 After running mkswap, swap space is discarded, system fails to
hibernate (invalid swap signature)

[Bug 86234] Re: 2 swap partitions each mounted twice in 2.6.20-8

2007-05-27 Thread coastgnu
I can confirm this, replacinf UUID with the /dev entry in fstab works.

Also replacing dbus from 7.04 Feisty with dbus (1.0.2-5ubuntu1) gutsy does the
job.
So updating feisty with the gutsy dbus package will be a solution for a bugfix
upgrade.

So we have two solutions now to fix this bug + updating dbus will be a
solution for novice users by offering an unattended upgrade via update-
manager.

Kyle, it's your turn now, I would say. :-)

[Bug 86234] Re: 2 swap partitions each mounted twice in 2.6.20-8

2007-05-24 Thread coastgnu
In [gutsy] this bug is fixed I asume by dbus 1.0.2-5ubuntu1 (23.may.07)

In [feisty] the bug still exists

Changes:
 dbus (1.0.2-5ubuntu1) gutsy; urgency=low
 .
   * Merge with Debian unstable; remaining Ubuntu changes:
 - debian/patches/80-dbus-change-at-console-policy.patch: Make at_console
   policy work with libpam-foreground.
 - debian/patches/81-session.conf-timeout.patch: Raise the service startup
timeout from 25 to 60 seconds. It may be too short on the live CD with
   slow machines.
 - debian/rules: Start dbus at runlevel priority 12, so that it comes
before gdm. This eliminates the race condition of starting the X session
before hal is running. Also use 'multiuser' mode of update-rc.d.
 - debian/dbus.postinst: Migrate rc?.d symlinks from 20 to 12 on upgrades
to this version. This needs to be kept until the next Ubuntu LTS.
 - debian/dbus.{postinst,prerm}: Reverted Debian's change to always restart
   dbus on upgrades.
   * debian/control: Drop dbus dependency to dbus-x11, since we crave to get
rid of that Xsession.d script. (LP: #62163)
   * debian/dbus.preinst: Improve rm_conffile() to get the unmodified md5sum
from dpkg instead of hardcoding it, and remove unchanged
 /etc/X11/Xsession.d/75dbus_dbus-launch on upgrade.
 .
 dbus (1.0.2-5) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   [ Michael Biebl ]
   * debian/dbus.init
+ Add some safety checks and support for file-rc. (Closes: #419984)
   * Drop dbus-1-utils package and move dbus-monitor into the dbus package.
 (Closes: #404981)
   * Create dbus-x11 package and move dbus-launch and the Xsession start script
from dbus into this package. This removes the X11 dependency from the dbus
 package.
Add a dependency on dbus-x11 to the dbus package, to not break packages
which still depend on dbus but should be updated to depend on dbus-x11
instead if they require a D-Bus session bus.
 .
   [ Sjoerd Simons ]
   * debian/control: Add libselinux1-dev to build depends
   * debian/rules: Clean up some more generated files (From the ubuntu
 packaging)

[Bug 83691] Re: /dev/hda in feisty test 3 (no libata?)

I've just checked it once again.
After bootup a 'swapon -s' shows:

This always results in a system crash only a few minutes after loged in

But when I do a 'swapoff -a' followed by a 'swapon -a' a 'swapon -s'
shows:

[Bug 83691] Re: /dev/hda in feisty test 3 (no libata?)

2007-02-18 Thread coastgnu
Pardomn me Ben but I have to disagree in this point not beeing a bug.

In 2.6.20-8 the root filesystem (/) is mounted as /dev/hda1
The following partitions are mounted as /dev/mapper/hda7 , /dev/mapper/hdb5 ,
/dev/mapper/hda6 and /dev/mapper/hda5 here.

But what is worse is that swap is mounted twice as /dev/hda2 and
dev/hdb1 but also as /dev/mapper/hda2 and /dev/mapper/hdb1

So each swap partition is mounted twice!

After boot I disabled swap by swapoff -a and after waiting a minute a
swapon -a only mounts /dev/mapper/hda2 and /dev/mapper/hdb1.

Daniel just told me so...

Thanks for the report. 2.15.1.1 has already been uploaded, but not
build. Edgy's Archive is in flux at the moment, so it will take a bit
until it's sorted out. Closing the bug, as it has already been uploaded.

Ok, war dann wohl noise der bug report.

Was mich aber zu der Frage bringt, kann ich irgendwo sehen was bereits zum
 build ansteht?

[Bug 52835] kernel panik linux-image-2.6.15-25-k7 but not linux-image-2.6.15-25-i386

2006-07-12 Thread coastgnu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

booting linux-image-2.6.15-25-k7 causes a kernel panik:

RAMDISK: ran out of compressed data
invalid compression format (err=1)

booting linux-image-2.6.15-25-i386 works fine

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 52835] Re: kernel panik linux-image-2.6.15-25-k7 but not linux-image-2.6.15-25-i386

2006-07-12 Thread coastgnu
Thanks to crimsum who assisted on #ubuntu-bugs irc-channel I was able to
solve this problem:

Do the following:
 cd /boot
 sudo -s
 mkinitramfs -k -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-26-k7 2.6.15-26-k7

(gives a message: Working files in /tmp/mkinitramfs_wyu4NH and overlay
in /tmp/mkinitramfs-OL_8eINcl)

Check if the new inird-img is created:
 ls -l /boot/initrd.img-2.6.15-26-k7

shows a new timestamp, so the new initrd.img was created sucessfully

 reboot linux-image-2.6.15-25-k7
