[Bug 504440] Re: sd card safely remove drive kills reader device

2010-02-13 Thread computx
FYI In the previous version 9.04. Safely remove worked correctly and
didn't kill the internal reader. I discovered that unmount and eject do
work correctly in 9.10 as others have mentioned but to those who are
used to using usb in windows, safely remove seems like the obvious
choice. I believe all safely remove needs to do is unmount the device
regardless of its nature. So I don't understand why it tries to do more.
It is not removing the driver module that I can tell but not sure what
it is doing to disable the reader.

[Bug 414181] Re: Update Manager, install button does nothing when u-m was opened by itself

2010-01-24 Thread computx
This is more than a minor annoyance. Why have update-manager popup if the
program is then unusable?
I personally liked the old update notification method better but am trying to
get used to the popup.
However this type of problem makes ubuntu look very bad since it has been 5
months without a fix.
I have 4 machines in the house with ubuntu. All have this bug.

[Bug 275692] Re: ath_pci must be reloaded after resume

I just realized this appears to be the same bug as #194607 in hardy.
Would love to see this fixed in intrepid.

[Bug 275692] Re: ath_pci must be reloaded after resume

2008-10-03 Thread computx
Yes that works for me also. Devs, could we make this default behaviour
for intrepid? The workaround is great but it would be even better if
newbies didn't have to search for this.

fwiw: /etc/pm/config.d/01-modules did not previously exist on my system

[Bug 194607] Re: Hardy: macbook/atheros wireless fails to persist through suspend

2008-03-23 Thread computx
Also the same problem with a t42. Adding MODULES= ath_pci to
/etc/default/acpi-support doesnt help this problem but I added the
workaround script as /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/30atherosreload and it
works quite well. (be sure to chmod script to executable)

is also dead but can be made to wake up by either removing and
reinserting the card or using network manager. All worked fine in edgy.
