[Bug 2077712] [NEW] lastlog does not capture all logins

2024-08-23 Thread cosine
Public bug reported:

My system does not capture all logins in lastlog.
In particular ssh logins are not captured.
Some users stay stuck at "**Never logged in**"

It is very similar to bug #271049 , but that one is over 10 yrs old.

Might be related to /etc/pam.d and pam_lastlog.so, but I don't know
enough about that.

[Bug 2060676] Re: login: remove pam_lastlog.so from config

2024-08-22 Thread cosine
Hi

I think this is related to an issue with last and lastlog.

I have users who log in via ssh, but do not show with last or lastlog.

Solution might be with /etc/pam.d/sshd

[Bug 1936192] [NEW] libreoffice digital signing of docx. not supported warning

2021-07-14 Thread cosine
Public bug reported:

Hi

It appears that libreoffice can not sign docx files.

However, when trying to sign such a file no warning is given, instead no
keys are listed.

This perhaps makes the user believe there is a problem with the signing
and keys.

So I suggest Libreoffice should give a warning when trying to sign
unsupported files.

[Bug 1678184] Re: APST quirk needed for Samsung 512GB NVMe drive

2021-03-16 Thread cosine
Hi

I'm now experiencing this bug with
Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB on a Lenovo T480 with 2 nvme drives.

nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 does not help it.

Because the problem only arose after two months, I can't rule a hardware
failure, although smart looks all fine.

Some relevant info attached.

[Bug 1866984] Re: linux-5.4 regression: hibernate-disk resumes instantly

2020-10-09 Thread cosine
Hi
I'm not sure if I can disable frambuffer compression (FBC).

> cat /proc/cmdline
says I disabled it:

BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.4.0-49-generic root=UUID=86dba13c-b77a-
4ac6-9f08-983354e5f8f1 ro quiet splash i915.i915_enable_fbc=0
vt.handoff=7

but
> systool -v -m i915 |grep fbc
says I did not:

enable_fbc  = "1"

Does anyone understand this?

[Bug 1866984] Re: linux-5.4 regression: hibernate-disk resumes instantly

2020-06-01 Thread cosine
Dear Daniel,
Thank you for that work-around!

The error message is a bit odd, as it says that it may lead to LESS powersaving.
Even then, once hibernated there is no power draw anyway

The hibernation bug is likely linked to #1866984
(also no solution there...)

Confirmed on a T480.

I lose my trackpoint mouse after a failed hibernation attempt, and can
suspend to ram anymore.

[Bug 1867431] Re: ERROR got an error from dpkg for pkg: 'libc6'

2020-03-16 Thread cosine
For those of us who have upgraded, but not yet rebooted,
- can we just wait for the next update and install that,
or
- somehow undo the update?

Thanks,

[Bug 1848768] [NEW] 19.10: cache is empty. You need to run "apt-file update" first.

2019-10-18 Thread cosine
Public bug reported:

In 19.10 apt-file does not work anymore.
In 19.04 it did.

sudo apt-file find default.pa
reports:
Finding relevant cache files to search ...E: The cache is empty. You need to
run "apt-file update" first.

sudo apt-file update
does not fix it.

It might be that no contents files are installed.

Also the configuration file seems to have moved.
This
 ln -sf /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50apt-file.conf /etc/apt/apt-file.conf
fixes it, but does not fix the above problem.
