[Bug 1130184] Re: ubuntu hangs on shutdown or reboot

2013-02-24 Thread cotillion
This bug can be closed.

It seemed to be related to a problem between X.org and bumblebee. After
deleting an old conf-file the bug disappeared.

[Bug 1130184] [NEW] ubuntu hangs on shutdown or reboot

2013-02-19 Thread cotillion
Public bug reported:

What I expected to happen:
Notebook shuts down or reboots after I pressed the button

what happened instead:
After pressing reboot or shutdown, the black status screen appears. With
sys-messages of services which are shutting down.
After a while the message appears:
'task xorg blocked for more than 120 seconds'
'task k10watchdog blocked for more than 120 seconds'

Changing to other ttys is possible but no typing is possible.

Only pressing the power button for more than 4 seconds shuts the system
down.

The system is a Lenovo Thinkpad T420s with Optimus (bumblebee installed)

[Bug 113095] Re: On shutdown, NetworkManager shuts down before NFS unmounts, causing a long hang

2012-08-10 Thread cotillion
this problem is still present on my machine (12.04) since I can
remember. Shutdown happens always fast. Only if I mounted nfs-devices
the shutdown progress hangs after stating that "killing all processes
failed".

As the patches talked about in this thread are quite old (2009), I do
not want to install them to my system.

Standing by for further testing if needed.

[Bug 293311] Re: nautilus thumbnails files on a mounted NFS share

2012-06-07 Thread cotillion
I agree with Cedric. This freezes nautilus everytime I access folders
with pictures or videos in it. Most times only for a few seconds, but
when there are several video files in the folder nautilus can freeze for
minutes until it has produced a thumbnail for every single video.

At least an option for excluding nfs from thumbnailing would help.

[Bug 563878] Re: Ubuntu splashscreen big and ugly after installing ATI/nVidia proprietary graphics driver

2010-10-26 Thread cotillion
The script does not work for me (NVidia Geforce 8800 GT, ubuntu 10.04).
The boot menu now appears in the high resolution, after this the splash
screen appears in the know ugly way.

Because the boot menu is shown in the high resolution, I don't think,
that it is the wrong resolution.

@Mauricio: You say you use the resolution 1024x768 in your example, but
I think you use 1280x1024, right?

[Bug 585657] Re: Transfering large files to nfs mount causes system freeze

Hmm, dont have such big files, so I cannot reproduce the bug.

Have you tried to use the option "async" in your exports? Maybe your
problem is related to the problem discussed and solved here:

Is it possible, the nfs client opens too many ports, than the hardware
can handle?

How large are the files, when producing this problem?

I can confirm this bug.

Is there a chance the fix in the kernel package will become a
StableReleaseUpdate? In my opinion it should. Otherwise this whole
package is useless.

Can someone confirm that ACLs with NFSv4 will work on lucid? As you can
see here http://packages.ubuntu.com/de/lucid/nfs4-acl-tools the package
nfs4-acl-tools is now in the universe repository for lucid.

Is there a chance this packages will be backported to karmic or an older
release?
