[Bug 382379] Re: pdftops CUPS filter has several problems

2009-12-06 Thread craigbass76
I still couldn't print well this morning to a networked Brother MFC
7820N, using a plethora of pdf viewers in both Jaunty and Karmic (with
updated related --cups, etc-- packages)

However, I happened across an old forum post where someone with Dapper
used the HP laserjet foomatic driver for this printer instead. So I
tried it in the Karmic livecd environment and fell out of my chair when
ALL pages of a pdf printed in less than a minute.

Further amazement ensued when the same thing happened to me in Jaunty.
I'm all fixed now.

My symptoms were some of the same described here; slow or no printing of
pdf, printing only one page of a graphics heavy pdf, etc, etc.

I was using the .deb driver from Brother's website.

Re: [Bug 196816] Re: Shutdown from XFCE Quit menu does not shut down the machine

2009-07-09 Thread craigbass76
Mine works now for some reason; as I remember, it was something retarded
I changed in a gui config somewhere. I will check on my laptop when I
get home, but I remember hitting myself when I got it done. Doh!

Everything like Ryan described. Probably, kernel option isn't related.

[Bug 329774] [NEW] Quit button only quits session, not shut down

2009-02-15 Thread craigbass76
Public bug reported:

I'm running Xubuntu Hardy (8.04) and when I quit using the menu
selection, or the button up near the clock, I'm only taken back to the
login screen. I think it's supposed to offer me the choice of shutting
down, but doesn't. When I relogin, all my windows are still running
that I left open.
