Public bug reported:
Ubuntu 8.10 Beta (with all updates as of 7 Oct 2008)
NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 71) [Recommended]
Tried to activate this driver but it fails after downloading and kicks back out
to the Hardware Drivers screen. Upon rebooting, there is an error message
saying the system is running in low graphics mode and that the driver is
missing. Also tried enabling desktop effects and this method shows that the
NVIDIA driver is not enabled. After selecting the enable option, the system
appears as though it is trying to activate it but then I get a an error message
saying the desktop effects cannot be enabled. The graphics card is a GeForce 2
GTS.
