I manually set /etc/papersize to nothing and issued $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure libpaper1 /etc/papersize resides empty. I am the first user on the system. $ id verifies that my uid and gid is 1000 I selected Germany as my country an ubuntu correctly guessed my keyboard layout during install. [Bug 310500] [NEW] Default page size for printing is letter - Printigsettings wont change letter to a4
Public bug reported: I went to System -> Adminsistration -> printing ... (the graphical human stuff) to change the Papersize from letter to a4. This works with applications like "Document Viewer" (i assume this is evince). However /etc/papersize is still set to letter. Applications like firefox (there already is a bugreport) an openoffice start printing my documents in a4, then suddenly switch to letter papersize and my printer rejects to print letter. About 2 documents are printed correctly in a4, then the printer cries for letter-paper. I live in Germany but my default ubuntu system language is english.
