[Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP

2008-09-14 Thread cruiseoveride
I think ubuntu should capitalise on a new marketing scheme. Like what
apple did with the letter "i", let ubuntu do with the letter "u"

uSurf - Ubuntu Browser, powered by mozilla
uWrite - Open office write
uExcel - Open Office calc
uChat - Gaim instant messenger
uListen - Music player
uWatch - Movie player

if any part of this idea gets used, i need to get paid for it. the said
amount will be disclosed in private.

thanks.

2006-09-04 Thread cruiseoveride
These problems are very specific to ubuntu, as a similar setup (linux kernel,
gdm, gnome etc) forund on Fedora Core work perfectly on the new iMac.
I suggest someone install Fedora Core and use it for deubugging to catch the
symbols coming from gdm during the freeze point on ubuntu.

[Bug 503101] Re: button relief problem

2011-05-19 Thread cruiseoveride
Sorry why can't you test it? I've already provided the sample code.

I don't like the new gnome shell so I've not upgraded to 11.04.

Issue still exists on Ubuntu 10.10

[Bug 503101] [NEW] button relief problem

2010-01-04 Thread cruiseoveride
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-themes

The themes provided with Ubuntu do not adhere to the GtkReliefStyle
property on GtkButtons properly.

#. GTK_RELIEF_NONE
When the button is drawn, the relief style appears to work, but when the mouse
moves over the button, it switches back to GTK_RELIEF_NORMAL (instead of just
brightening up a little perhaps?).

Toggle buttons with GTK_RELIEF_NONE are even worse, they switch to and
hold GTK_RELIEF_NORMAL when toggled (instead of just darkening a
little?).

#. GTK_RELIEF_HALF
This relief style has absolutely no effect whatsoever. I'm guessing its meant
to just have the soft edge around the button but no gradient curvature over the
button.

Here is a sample program that demonstrates relief behavior:
http://en.pastebin.ca/1737827
And two screenshots taken from Ubuntu 9.10 using the default theme
(human-clearlooks):

1. http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4184/unmouse.jpg
2. http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7656/mouseu.jpg

In the 2nd screenshot, the mouse is hovering over the first button.

Using: Ubuntu-9.10 X86_64
gnome-themes-* 2.28.1-0ubuntu

** Affects: gnome-themes (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 229927] Re: The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.

2009-03-17 Thread cruiseoveride
I can confirm this bug. Seems to have something to do with Flash and
Composite.

It happens on any distro.
/opt/firefox/firefox
The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 6647 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

And no, export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 doesnt help

I think Ubuntu needs to provide the jack plugin as part of
libasound2-plugins as ALSA intended.

The jack related readme and example conf as in the package, but no
driver

dpkg -L libasound2-plugins | grep -i jack
/usr/share/doc/libasound2-plugins/README-jack

Can reproduce this issue with Ubuntu 20.04 fully up to date as of
Oct-2021. Using a Brother HL-L2390DW in my case. This is a regression as
it used to work fine in Ubuntu 18.04.
