[Bug 663324] [NEW] Firefox 3.6.10 not correctly detected by some sites that need it

2010-10-19 Thread cubytus
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

This site https://www2.stm.info/emplois/ only works on an array of
browser, including Firefox. On Ubuntu 9.10 and using Firefox 3.6.10, it

doesn't seem to be properly detected.

On Mac OS X, the same version of Firefox works flawlessly.

But it needed a MS server, which most of us do not have.

[Bug 369850] Re: Cannot set up parallel port printer on Ubuntu 9.04

2009-05-23 Thread cubytus
I have a HP LaserJet 1100 that was perfectly working on Ubuntu 8.04, but
couldn't even be detected in 9.04.
I didn't even had the /dev/lp0 in that tree.
As a machine, I have the exact same motherboard as edfield, and maybe the same
computer (a HP Pavilion 750n), which is 9 year old. Everything is stock except
the hard drive and a DVD burner.

I added parport_pc in /etc/modules, and rebooted.

I then tried to install the printer using the standard Ubuntu GUI, and
it detected the correct printer on the parallel port.

I could set it up using CUPS+Gutenprint, as I saw it gave less bad
results as a color approximation at 600dpi.

[Bug 119730] Re: Slow SATA performance

2008-08-24 Thread Cubytus
Hi to all,

same problems here:

Relevant hardware:
Asus A8N SLi Deluxe;
2x 250GB 7200 rpm Western Digital Hard drives, SATA-3
1x DVD-RW, NEC 3500 A
1x Compaq DVD-ROM (slave on ATA cable)

Symptoms:
copying a large file (700MB) to the same hard drive reads around 8 to 13 MBps
at most; very occasionally jumps to 20MBps.
Same sort of speed copying to the other hard drive, formatted in NTFS (yes, for
the Win XP install that I would like to dump, if only Ubuntu was more reliable.)

Don't have results for a previous version of Ubuntu since it's my first
install in this computer.

I get similar speeds on my father's computers, which sports a different
M/B and a 160GB ATA/100 hard drive (7 year-old computer, as opposed to
mine which is 3)

Here is a sample of the tested speeds in hdparm: (still slow for a supposed
3Gbps STA link, but better than IRL)
/dev/sda:
 Timing cached reads: 1326 MB in 2.00 seconds = 663.08 MB/sec
 Timing buffered disk reads: 174 MB in 3.01 seconds = 57.76 MB/sec

Tell me how I can be of further help on this bug since I have access to
two different computers with similar problem.

Cheers,
Cubytus
