Re: [Bug 317640] Re: [Jaunty] Brightness to minimum, cannot change (Lenovo 3000 C200)
Hello, I doesn't break anymore, with any installed kernel. However, when it was broken, the problem appeared with all the kernels in the list (I've tried them all), even with the kernels which were working well with brightness before the bug. -- [Jaunty] Brightness to minimum, cannot change (Lenovo 3000 C200) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317640 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 317640] Re: [Jaunty] Brightness to minimum, cannot change (Lenovo 3000 C200)
Hello, I've updated my system one hour ago, but the problem is still there and it really affects the laptop usability, I cannot read anything when there is even low sunlight. As there are still no fixes, I decided to try some workarounds. There is more information. All the following commands are done as root. dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Hal \ /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/acpi_lcd \ org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel.SetBrightness \ int32:2 returns : Error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method SetBrightness with signature i on interface org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.LaptopPanel doesn't exist Killing hald and launching it as follows : /usr/sbin/hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes shows, when trying to change brightness : 18:11:38.964 [D] hald_dbus.c:3197: udi=/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer_logicaldev_input_0 [12229]: 18:11:38.966 [D] addon-acpi.c:201: event is 'video LCD 0086 ...but the brightness still stays minimal. echo 3 /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/LCD/brightness bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument cat /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/LCD/brightness not supported The folder /sys/class/backlight/ is empty. I've also tried omnibook, as some people suggest when facing similar problems, but it doesn't work too. Brightness-applet dispays a tooltip saying Cannot get laptop panel brightness and, when launched with debugging, says that power-manager says that the brightness is not supported on my laptop. It's sad because brightness worked correctly with previous releases of ubuntu and even with jaunty, relatively, at the beginning. Everything works perfectly under Windows XP. I don't know what to add. I've tried all the stuff I know. The bug is still there. [Bug 317640] [NEW] [Jaunty] Brightness to minimum, cannot change (Lenovo 3000 C200)
Public bug reported: Hello, I'm running an up-to-date version of Jaunty on my laptop, a Lenovo 3000 C200. However, for few days now, the brightness of the screen is minimal, and I cannot change it, which is sometimes really annoying. The brightness hotkeys do not work (nothing happens when pressed), the brightness settings of gnome are simply ignored (without any error message), and the Brightness Applet says it cannot get the brightness of my laptop, and it cannot set it as well. Please tell me which informations you need, because I don't know what to send. Thanks. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [Jaunty] Brightness to minimum, cannot change (Lenovo 3000 C200) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317640 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 303949] Re: tor 0.2.0.32-1 Depends: glibc-private but it is not installable

[Bug 313706] Re: Firefox links blinking on rollover (version 3.05-1.0, Jaunty)
There is more information : It happens on all websites. I'm using the default firefox skin (no skins installed), flashplugin-nonfree (however the problem appears even when there is no flash content on the page), totem and VLC plugins are also installed, as well as FoxyProxy, the only extension I've installed. There is more information about the blinking : It seems somewhat random. Half of the time, when the cursor comes over a link, the link passes in its rollover state, (blue underlined by default) for about ten milliseconds and then returns to its normal state and stays so, like if the cursor was not on it, until I get the cursor out of it and then back on it, what causes the phenomenon to repeat. The other half of the time, when the cursor is over a link, the links blinks : the phenomenon I've described repeats rapidly and indefinitely while the cursor is on the link. Compiz is disabled (no effects), and gnome uses the theme glossy. -- Firefox links blinking on rollover (version 3.05-1.0, Jaunty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313706 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 313706] [NEW] Firefox links blinking on rollover (version 3.05-1.0, Jaunty)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 Hello, I'm using an up-to-date version of Firefox in Jaunty and I get this bug : when my cursor is on a link in Firefox, the link blinks all the time the cursor is on it, like I was getting the cursor out of it and then back on it again, rapidly. So I don't have the time neither to read any tip, nor to read what is in the status bar, and the results on rollover-effects using sites are ugly, and make them sometimes unusable. However, clicking on the link works well and the bug is not present in any plugin (flash...), just on normal links. ** Affects: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Firefox links blinking on rollover (version 3.05-1.0, Jaunty) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313706 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 90925] Re: hardware brightness keys on lenovo R60e are working strange in gnome
I can confirm the bug with an up-to-date Jaunty on my Lenovo 3000 C200. The same thing with brightness keys and applet. I also have a problem with brightness settings : when I configure the system to do not dim the screen after few minutes of inactivity, the setting is ignored and it still tries (and fails) to reduce brightness, what causes the screen to fade many times, while eating 100% of the CPU. Also, when I open VLC, or somme SDL/OpenGl application, the brightness is reduced to its minimal value, and with the first problem, it's hard to restore it. -- hardware brightness keys on lenovo R60e are working strange in gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/90925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
