I got this issue booting linux mint 11 from USB using Unetbootin to an ASPIRE revo (Acer). The current OS came with the computer - linpus which is total rubbish so trying to get a decent distro on it.
I copied Echeddar (post #47 above) and reformatted the USB using the slow option on windows. This solved the problem. Unfortunately there is a separate error now which I am about to google!
