[Bug 267089] Re: 2.6.27-2 kernel on intrepid: disk is mounted in RO after several hours

2009-01-14 Thread deckatron75
I am in this boat.

I have a MacBookPro3,1 with 4038228 kB of ram that consistently dropped "/"
into read-only under ubuntu 8.10.
I just installed ubuntu 8.10 today.

I have applied the intrepid-proposed patches and am now running
2.6.27-11-generic x86_64.

It seems stable after 60 minutes (longest run yet).

I have run the System->Administration->Hardware Testing application.

If there is anything I can do to help verify please let me know

jsdecker at comcast dot net

Thanks!

[Bug 112925] Re: eclipse crash, when spawning browser

2007-06-26 Thread deckatron75
I think I got hit by this, and found a temp work around.

Eclipse wants to use Firefox libraries by default.
Since the Eclipse/Firefox interaction is broken, we have to avoid
this. There is an eclipse option under window->preferences->General->Web
Browser,
do NOT select "Mozilla".

If you are like me, this will also crash eclipse. I uninstalled eclipse &
firefox.
Then I installed eclipse from eclipse.org. Installing via apt-get will include
and try to user firefox by default, causing the crash.

Manual installation of eclipse from eclipse.org does NOT use mozilla be
default, and so eclipse is usable.

Firefox can then be re-installed via apt-get, and you have a working eclipse
and firefox, even if they won't work well together.
