[Bug 1302885] Re: Media keyboard shortcuts not working
None of this works for me! Been broken for a long time. Perhaps it's because I don't use Unity, and I use compiz and gnome classic. My $ gsettings get org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys volume-up 'XF86AudioRaiseVolume' but the volume up doesn't work. Nor volume down, pause, next, prev or play/pause. It's really annoying as those keys were handy. Running xev and depressing volume up says the right thing "XF86AudioRaiseVolume" but it's as if the driver doesn't care that that key was pressed. This keeps up I'll have to just go to some other distro. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1302885 Title: Media keyboard shortcuts not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1302885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1302885] Re: Media keyboard shortcuts not working
Is there something special you need to do after these "solutions". Because I did the gsettings thing to no avail. I tried the gnome3 thing and again, nothing changed. Do I need to logout and back in? Do I need to reboot? A while ago something got flaky with X so I decided I should logout and back in. But I couldn't log back in so I had to reboot. When I finally got back in their were no sound icon, media keys didn't work. No notifications menu. Emerald wouldn't start, etc. etc. I finally got back up relatively normal but I can't get this media keys to work and I'm quite used to them. I'm afraid to even logout and back in let along reboot because who knows what kinda state I'm gonna come up in!

[Bug 460351] Re: Sound capture (microphone) works on LiveCD, but don't work after installation
I have this problem on my desktop - I can hear myself talking through the mic but nothing records in Sound Recorder nor does the mic work for Skype. Works when booted from LiveCD, doesn't work when booted from the hard drive. The difference AFAICT is that somewhere along the line a new sound driver was installed because when booted from the LiveCD I have only a stereo card but when booted from the hard drive I have the full 5.1 controls. My guess is that the sound driver is at fault here. How does on tell what driver is installed and possibly install a newer version. $ lspci -vv | grep Audio 00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) $ amixer Simple mixer control 'Master',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right - Rear Left - Rear Right - Front Center - Woofer - Side Left - Side Right Limits: Playback 0 - 65536 Mono: Front Left: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Front Right: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Rear Left: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Rear Right: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Front Center: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Woofer: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Side Left: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Side Right: Playback 19818 [30%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Capture',0 Capabilities: cvolume cswitch cswitch-joined Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right - Rear Left - Rear Right - Front Center - Woofer - Side Left - Side Right Limits: Capture 0 - 65536 Front Left: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Front Right: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Rear Left: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Rear Right: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Front Center: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Woofer: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Side Left: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Side Right: Capture 65536 [100%] [on] Any ideas? -- Sound capture (microphone) works on LiveCD, but don't work after installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 411454] [NEW] Unable to config vmware with /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
Public bug reported: Strange thing happened to me today on my Ubuntu AMD 64-bit machine running 9.04. Updates came in naturally I applied them. They apparently contained some kernel update because it said that I needed to restart my computer. Restarted my computer and vmware would not start stating that I needed to run /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl to reconfigre VMWare. So I run it and get: $ /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl Making sure services for VMware Server are stopped. I remember doing some odd stuff before to get /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl to work. I believe it was a symlink. Turns out I needed to do it again here in order to get this working so I'm reporting this to see if this is a known issue, perhaps on AMD 64 type machines... The symlink was: $ cd /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.28-13-generic/arch $ ln -s x86 linux After that /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl works OK. Is there I a reason I need to do this symlink?
