[Bug 599785] [NEW] The Gimp's description is too confusing

2010-06-29 Thread devildante
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

Here's The Gimp description in the software center:

GIMP lets you draw, paint, edit images, and much more! GIMP includes
the functionality and plug-ins of other famous image editing and
processing programs.

If you'd like to be able to open files remotely (like over HTTP or FTP),
install the gvfs-backends package.

If you'd like to use a MIDI device as an input controller in GIMP,
install libasound2 and read the how-to at
/usr/share/doc/gimp/README.MIDI

If you'd like to be able to read and write PostScript files from GIMP,
install the ghostscript package.

As you can see, the majority of the text is geeky.

[Bug 599799] [NEW] Gufw's both short and long description are misleading

2010-06-29 Thread devildante
Public bug reported:

The Gufw short description in the software center (where it is known as
Firewall configuration) is: Allows you to configure ufw firewall. The
end-user does not know what is 'ufw', so this should be changed to
Allows you to configure the system's firewall or Allows you to
configure Ubuntu's firewall.

As for the long description: gufw is an easy and intuitive way to
manage your Linux firewall. It supports common tasks such as allowing or
blocking pre-configured, common p2p, or individual port(s), and many
others! Here again, gufw should not be mentionned, but the biggest
problem is in 'Linux firewall. Since the recent Ubuntu site redesign
has completely removed any mention of Linux, the user will be confused
about this and may even leave Ubuntu on the basis that Linux is for
geeks. So, this should be changed to: Firewall configuration is an
easy and intuitive way to manage your Ubuntu firewall. It supports
common tasks such as allowing or blocking pre-configured, common P2P, or
individual port(s), and many others!

Some more informations:
The bug occurs after each boot to the desktop, and won't let NetworkManager
connect for a good while. A workaround I found is to delete the connection from
the Network Connections window, and to reconnect to the network.
