[Bug 502040] Re: firefox can't open downloaded files

2010-01-03 Thread dinger
Hi Micah,

Thanks for the assistance.

I created a new profile called test. This profile correctly opened .pdf
and .doc files, but still wants to open .mp3 files with movie player
despite the fact that in edit--preferences--applications mp3 files
are meant to be opened with VLC.

[Bug 502040] Re: firefox can't open downloaded files

2010-01-02 Thread dinger
Hi Micah,

I have tried to manually set the correct appications for firefox to use
to open programs by going edit -- preferences -- applications.

Mp3s open in movie player. Despite changing the settings to ask me it
keeps opening them in movie player. I will try to restart the computer
to check if this rectifies this problems

.doc files open in openoffice, but I had to set this manually.
Previously they were not working.

PDF files are now also working, but I had to set it manually. Previously
they were not working.

The work-around for solving the problem seems to be manually setting the
applications, but the bugs is still there that firefox doesn't
automatically retrieve these settings from gnome. Also, if there are
multiple applications for an associated file-type they do not appear in
the drop-down list box in the applications setting page. For example, I
use Amarok to play MP3s, but the only available application to launch
mp3s is movie player. I now have to find the amarok executable manually

Thanks

Adam

[Bug 475741] [NEW] Open Arena hangs on exiting

2009-11-05 Thread dinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openarena

Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 x64
Openarena 0.8.1-4

Open Arena is really unstable. It ran fantastically on my machine in
Jaunty.

When I quit and then click yes the game hangs. I need to push ctrl-alt
F1, log in and killall open arena to close it. I cannot access any gnome
functionality when it has hung, until I have killed it.

The sound also doesn't work

[Bug 467278] [NEW] South African English Dictionary still missing lots of words

2009-10-31 Thread dinger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Hi,

I have just installed Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 on x64 architecture.

I am not sure the exact package effected, but it's probably myspel-en-za
1:3.0.1-8ubuntu1

I reported this bug in Ubuntu Jaunty. The bug seems to have been propogated
again in Karmic:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=100281

The south African English Dictionary is missing lots and lots of words.
It's practically unusable. This problem is present in both OpenOffice
and Evolution. For example the word have is in the dictionary, but the
word having is reported as being a spelling error. The word dad is
in the dictionary but dad's is reported as a spelling error.

Thanks for looking into this

I've created a patch which fixes this bug.

According to a 4-year old post on the 'net

this has been around a while.
