seems this thread is related, it's kinda old (February 27th, 2009) but the problem is same, enable Xinerama and watch it crash http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1003263 no look with vesa drivers for me maybe there is no simple solution to this problem and it seems that it is not a nvidia-driver specific problem, rather a general Xinerama problem. I really want to use Xineram again (atm I have 2 nvidia cards, one amd, and 5 available screens so it would be awesome to use them all) maybe it works with wrapping it with Xdmx... [Bug 363011] Re: Xorg hard crash on nvidia multi-gpu system
similar problem today i tried a quadro-head setup, i have 1x Geforce 8600 GTS 1x Geforce 5200 (PCI) 1x Screen 1680x1050 3x 1280x1024 first thing i noticed was that the 180 nvidia driver did not see the geforce 5200, so i switched to the 173 nvidia-settings found both cards and all four screens, enabled all, activated Xinerama, rebooted and X keeps crashing, instantly, it's not like the typical crash, the screens first show me Input DVI then go black, then No Input Signal and that over and over again, sometimes I see a bit of screen corruption. without Xinerama (Seperate X Desktops) all four screens work fine looked into the manual, there it says that xinerama is only supported up to 4096 width, so i started to mess arround. i already get a fine screen corruption with only one small screen attached to each card. what's interesting is that i already got tripplehead running, with Xinerama and now i'm stuck and i don't remember which ubuntu version and which nvidia driver was working. ** Attachment added: Xorg.1.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31508672/Xorg.1.log -- Xorg hard crash on nvidia multi-gpu system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95307] installation issue - installed on the false harddisk
Public bug reported: this issue happened already a second time. on my laptop i have a 80gig build-in harddisk and a 160gig harddisk attached with USB. During the Installation he asks me to choose on which harddisk I want to install the system. The first device is the build in disk and the second the external harddisk. It seems that the first option is marked, so I thought that he will install it on the first, build in, disk. But then he installs the system on the external disk, formatting the whole external disk. In future I will always edit the partion manualy, but somebody should really fix this problem ProblemType: Bug Date: Sat Mar 24 02:54:07 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04 Uname: Linux judas 2.6.20-9-generic #2 SMP Mon Feb 26 03:01:44 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- installation issue - installed on the false harddisk https://launchpad.net/bugs/95307 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
