Re: [Bug 200747] Re: EXT3-fs error corruption

2008-10-11 Thread drdaz
I have not experienced this issue since I reassembled my machine - it
seems likely that it was, in my case at least, hardware-related.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently.
We were wondering is this still an issue for you?
Can you try with latest Ubuntu release?
What steps have you taken to ensure it's not defective hardware or a
 bad connector?
Do you have any ideas how we can reliably reproduce this bug?
 Thanks in advance.

Re: [Bug 200747] Re: EXT3-fs error corruption

2008-07-16 Thread drdaz
FYI, after pulling my machine apart and reassembling it (thus resocketing
the SATA cables), I have not experienced this problem.

I can attest to having this same bug too. Haven't been able to boot for
a few days, I hope resocketing sata cables and doing some fsck's from
the livecd actually allow me to boot :(

[Bug 193968] Re: Hardy projectM doesn't work

2008-07-12 Thread drdaz
JoePub: I would be interested in seeing what you've done; I have added a
check in SOIL.c and set the variable max_supported_size to 4096.
Unfortunately, it doesn't change the outcome (at least not in the
mythmusic context - I've not experienced problems elsewhere).

That said, I'm not a C programmer, and I'm not familiar with the code
I'm looking at, so I'd really like to see what you did :-).

[Bug 244591] Re: Cannot connect to ICQ (The client version you are using is too old.)

2008-07-06 Thread drdaz
Interestingly enough, I'm running Hardy and the Pidgin (2.02) I'm using
works with ICQ atm.. I noticed that Pidgin at work (Windows) didn't last
week. Perhaps the ICQ servers have been patched to allow the older
protocol again?

I just noticed though, that the 2.02 release I'm running (at least
according to the Help | About window) is.. way old. How bizarre... This
must be an after effect of installing Pidgin from a 3rd party repo after
GAIM renamed and the release I was running didn't offer Pidgin. I am
surprised though that my upgrade manager is asking me to make the
upgrade...

[Bug 205730] Re: CPU T9300 (Penryn) thermal sensor not detected

Confirmed - this issue applies to the desktop versions of the Intel 45nm
CPUs too. An update to both lm-sensors and hwmon's coretemp module will
be needed.

It just occurred to me that the kernel version I provided is probably a
bit useless - it's 2.6.22-14.52.

[Bug 200747] Re: EXT3-fs error corruption

2008-03-24 Thread drdaz
I've started experiencing the same recently; I have a machine that's
always-on, and freezes in the same manner (with lit HD light), usually
after between 2-5 days uptime. The inode errors are then fixed (either
on bootup or manually via a bootable Ubuntu SD card) and the process
repeats.

My disks are ~6 month old 500GB WD Caviar drives and the / partition
(sadly the one exhibiting the problem - others all come up clean post-
crash) is also ext3 format. I *believe* the issue began after the most
recent kernel upgrade (current: 2.6.22-14-generic), so I'll try
downgrading again to see if that makes any difference.

It may well be a related bug, however I did not experience this issue

[Bug 124713] Totem-xine crashes when trying to play mp3 from network drive

2007-07-08 Thread drdaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-xine

After upgrading from Edgy to Feisty, I am no longer able to play files
containing mp3 streams from my network shares. Attempting to do so
causes totem to segfault. This problem affects SSH and SMB shares (the
only 2 protocols I use - others might have the same issue). This problem
affects both plain mp3 audio files and video files containing mp3
streams. These same files play fine when downloaded to a local drive and
opened.

I have built and installed libxine and totem from source (both repo
versions and the latest releases from their respective sites), however
this does not fix the issue. In addition, this occurs on 2 separate
machines - my desktop and my Dell laptop (both upgraded from Edgy using
Update Manager). totem-gstreamer is not affected by this issue.

I am filing this as a totem-xine issue, however it does seem likely that
it is a libxine issue.
