[Bug 1893562] Re: Second equal USB card reader not detected
Yes, in my case the serial numbers are also identical. I skimmed through the bug you link to and it seems the fix requires a non-trivial change to udev, which explains why this hasn't been fixed. [Bug 1893562] [NEW] Second equal USB card reader not detected
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS, gnome-disks 3.28.3. Two exactly equal USB card readers ( 05e3:0749 genesys logic ) are inserted, each containing a formatted SD card, each with a single partition. Both disk partitions are correctly assigned devices on insertion. Only whichever adapter is inserted first automounts (as checked by mount) and only that adapter is listed in Gnome Disks. Both partitions names are listed in the gnome Places menu. After mounting the second partition via the Places menu, still only the first adapter is listed in Gnome Disks. The error occurs with NTFS, FAT or ext4 SD card partitions. This should be pretty easy to track down, but I can run more tests if required. [Bug 43092] Re: CompactFlash PCMCIA disk is not detected
Re this problem, for a thinkpad X31 running Ubuntu 7.10: - stock kernel 2.6.22-15-generic is buggy. - home-compiled kernel 2.6.23.9 is not buggy. Ubuntu is a great OS, but it is weird that a kernel.org kernel works better than what they cook up. [Bug 43092] Re: CompactFlash PCMCIA disk is not detected
I can confirm this problem using the stock 2.6.22-14. Some time ago I built a 2.6.23 kernel in order to bypass ubuntu bug 147464 (a HARD LOCK on heavy internet traffic) and as luck would have it CF works great with that non-Ubuntu kernel. It does have the ide-cs module. I congratulate the Ubuntu team on making me see the usefulness of building my own kernel. Great fun. Granted I use an obscure brand of laptop, the "Thinkpad X31". -- CompactFlash PCMCIA disk is not detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147464] Re: Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes.
Updating the kernel from 2.6.22-14-generic to 2.6.23.9 seems to have eliminated this bug from my system. Since emory asked, I'm experiencing this bug on a system upgraded from Feisty. -- Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147464] Re: Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes.
A long shot: here's a possible extra clue for solving this problem. Twice after freezing this way and being left alone for a while, my Thinkpad X31 would not even turn on with the battery plugged in -- it was necessary to remove it. Some sort CMOS corruption connection? Anyway, again if anyone working on this wants specific trace info or some test performed, please do ask. -- Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147464] Re: Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes.
Just to clarify the above, I didn't mean that no lockup occurs above 80kBps, only that it occurs even at speeds (as low?) as below 80. The hardware seems fine: ran self-test on CPU, ran memtest, network card runs fine on another laptop. The lock-up occurs only under heavy network traffic, so I'm leaning towards a software cause and I think some sort of postmortem info would be the most useful. I'll go and find out how to obtain that, but would appreciate pointers on how to do it in this specific circumstance, ie, full lock-up. Still, for kicks I'll also add further data points by running live CDs later on. -- Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147464 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147464] Re: Heavy network activity (eg: torrent/nfs file transfers) causes Hard System Locks and/or Network Freezes.
For the record, in my case the system locks up at or below 80kBps. Not running NDISwrapper, not even a wifi card. This is a 3G cellular data card, showing up on a couple of ttyUSB ports courtesy of the kernel Option module, it seems. I'm experiencing the same problem on a PCMCIA 3G/HSDPA wireless card (a Novatel Merlin) on a Thinkpad X31. High bandwidth (eg bittorrent) quickly causes a system freeze.
