[Bug 48404] Re: netbeans java app gui is blank in xgl and java5

2007-10-12 Thread eljefe6
I am running the Compiz backport for Feisty and the Java GUI apps are
working fine. I am also running Java 1.6. There is a plugin for
workaround that has a Java checkbox. Its in the CompizConfig
Settings->Workaround->Java Window Fix. I did not have to enable this
plugin for my computer.

[Bug 89980] Re: Sound not working well on Apple Mac Pro

2007-04-13 Thread eljefe6
After downloading a new kernel, you may need to run "make clean" before
running the make. This is only if you are using a previously extracted
directory.

Here are the steps again:
./configure --with-cards=hda-intel
make clean
make -j 8
sudo make install

Then reboot.

I thought the same thing as Christian. Wasn't the beta "freeze"
designated so that only bug fixes were committed?

[Bug 96480] Re: Kernel 2.6.20-13 acpi bug

2007-04-12 Thread eljefe6
"if they can manage to install" should say "if they can manage to boot
the installer". I of course haven't tried that, but I believe they will
not even be able to boot the Release installer. The instructions you
put require a bootable kernel from the Release installer.

In order to install, someone would have to download the beta Feisty
release with 2.6.20-12 or earlier and update everything but the kernel.

At my office we are all using Mac Pros and plan on having all of them
triple boot. Right now, I am the only one triple booting. The rest are
waiting on the full release of Feisty.

As of a few months ago, Feisty was the only distribution that worked
remotely well on a Mac Pro. This will help Ubuntu gain quite a bit of
market share.

This issue will affect all Mac Pro and some Acer users. For this
reason, I urge you to reconsider this decision.

Thanks. Your instructions worked perfectly. After the reboot I have to
re-install my Nvidia drivers. Other than that everything went well.

I have went months without sound. Its funny how much you need/want
sound on computers nowadays.

Is the 2.6.20-14 kernel out for an apt-get yet? The apparently interim

still using 2.6.20-12.

I am also experiencing this issue. However, no variation on the acpi
(acpi=off, acpi=force, acpi=on, noacpi) will work. This was as of last
week's updates. My Feisty install has been working fine for months
previously. Now when I try to boot from the previous kernels, they hang
at the "Loading ACPI modules" step too.

2007-03-23 Thread eljefe6
Daniel - Sorry to be a bit dense and ask a follow up question. I asked
if Feisty was going to ship without fixing the bug. You said yes, the
fix is in ubuntu.git. Does that mean that the bug is fixed and awaiting
release with Feisty? Or does that mean we need to manually patch our
kernels/alsa somehow and Feisty is shipping without the bug fix?
Thanks.

[Bug 88236] Keyboard starts running slowly after CD insertion pop-up

2007-02-26 Thread eljefe6
Public bug reported:

On a Mac Intel Pro, a sporadic bug (about once a week) happens where
Gnome will display a CD inserted dialog box out of the blue. I have not
inserted a CD. Immediately afterwards, the keyboard starts running
extremely slow and misses 50% of the key presses. All of the other
devices seem to work correctly (mouse, etc). I have to reboot to regain
keyboard functionality. I have tried unplugging and plugging in the
keyboard. That does not help.

The Gnome dialog box says "The CD in the drive contains both music and
files. Would you like listen to music or browse the files?". It
doesn't matter which button you click, the same keyboard issues still
happen.
