Hello, under Ubuntu 16.04 and LibreOffice 5.1.2.2, Linux Biolinum is well displayed on the monitor but isn't printed correctly (see the first version on the left side of the attached picture file) with replacement of some characters by some other (strange) ones. [Bug 666238] Re: File-roller An error occured during the addition of files to the archive
Hello Pedro, I no longer have had this problem since I've been using 11.04, even using the same repertory to make the archive (the repertory gathering my important documents). All the time when I was under 10.10 I had to use CLI to make my archives: I'm sad to say that a bug about such a basic and important feature as this in such an important sofware as the file manager, is not very reassuring and leading you to be trustful about an operating system. May I precise that I am a very fan of free software and Linux that I am using exclusively (Ubuntu) since august 2005, but I think that the bugs management is still a problem for the Linux desktop. [Bug 478804] Re: Search and replace EOL character ^$ (to erase blank lines) doesn't work in OOo Writer
Hello Christopher, first thank you very much for taking interest in this issue. I've done your test and it works perfectly, as for you. This because your file is too simple (see infra). In the file Test Mailing Result S&R built-in.odt, you can see that, using the Search and replace fonction of LibreOffice the replacement doesn't work before a page break (and when using my own (not testing) big file, the styles may disappear too). [Bug 601430] Re: linux-image 2.6.32-23.37 can't be configured
I have found the solution. Looking at the error message, I noted that the 1st error was this: "update-extlinux: not found". at the very beginning of the text: "Examining /etc/kernel/postrm.d . run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux 2.6.32-21-generic /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-21-generic /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux: 15: update-extlinux: not found run-parts: /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux exited with return code 127" So I googlelized: "update-extlinux: not found" and found the precise solution in this post : http://osdir.com/ml/debian-bugs-dist/2010-05/msg08675.html "You must have installed and then removed extlinux, leaving the script /etc/kernel/postrm.d/extlinux. [Bug 478804] Re: Search and replace EOL character ^$ (to erase blank lines) doesn't work in OOo Writer
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: openoffice.org In OOo Writer 3.0.1, if you want to erase blank lines using 'search and replace' for ^$ (empty paragraph): either the blank lines are not found and nothing is replaced, either the styles may disappear and the replacement doesn't work before a page break. This worked perfectly in versions previous than Jaunty. It doesn't work in Jaunty nor in Karmic. If you add the extension "AltSearch 1.2.2 Alternative Find & Replace for Writer by Tomas Bilek", the extension does the job perfectly like Writer was able in the past versions. I've tried (before a reinstallation of Jaunty) to install OOo 3.1 (using the PPA I think) but the problem remained. In OOo 3.1.1 in Sabayon or in Parsix Linux, the problem doesn't exist. This is useful if you want to present a phonebook spreadsheet in a document in 4 columns with differents formats for the items: you can make a mailing from the spreadsheet but then you need to erase blank lines and page breaks and keep the formating. $ lsb_release -rd: Description: Ubuntu 9.04Release: 9.04 $ apt-cache policy openoffice.org openoffice.org: Installé : 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1 Candidat : 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1 Table de version : *** 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1 0 500 http://ftp.free.org jaunty-updates/main Packages 500 http://ftp.free.org jaunty-security/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3 0 500 http://ftp.free.org jaunty/main Packages ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: openoffice.org-core 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3.1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: openoffice.org Uname: Linux 2.6.28-16-generic i686 + --- + Architecture: i386 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia + Package: openoffice.org 1:3.2.0-7ubuntu4 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + ProcEnviron: + LANG=fr_FR.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 + Tags: lucid + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare ** Attachment added: "Dependencies.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/48882655/Dependencies.txt -- Search and replace EOL character ^$ (to erase blank lines) doesn't work in OOo Writer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/478804 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Exactly the same problem under Lucid (not an upgrade but an install from scratch): after replacing of the blank paragraph ^$ with nothing, the page breaks, between two records of the data base (spreadsheet), doesn't disappear and the text formatting sometimes is broken. Hello Pedro, I've changed the line in /etc/default/apport to enabled=1 and restart my computer. Then tried to select several files in Brasero: Brasero closed by itself immediately. [Bug 374101] Re: Brasero hangs at Normalizing tracks
I do agree with Uqbar: what about those who use Jaunty? they can only cry? This idea that when a new Ubuntu version occurs there is no more need to fix the bugs of the preceding version is unrational because a new version is always full of new bugs and one should always wait a few months before upgrading its system. It's undecent too regarding the users of the preceding version who are considered negligibles! So you can get: - either the preceding version with bugs that developpers consider there is no need to fix them - or the new version with new bugs whose solutions haven't been found yet but not a STABLE DEBUGGED SYSTEM. -- Brasero hangs at Normalizing tracks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374101 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org In OOo Writer 3.0.1, if you want to erase blank lines using 'search and replace' for ^$ (empty paragraph): either the blank lines are not found and nothing is replaced, either the styles may disappear and the replacement doesn't work before a page break. I have exactly the same problem as in bug #37137 which is reported as a duplicate of this bug, with the same messages "file system has an incompatible feature enabled" and then "Ext2 partition has unrecoverable system error" using the installer of both Ubuntu and Kubuntu 9.04 JAUNTY.
