[Bug 383927] Re: endless loading in nautilus / some files missing
I've encountered this on 9.04 as well as on 9.10 when I recently switched (clean install, with few config directories moved, but not nautilus) in my video folders. I'm using 64bit version of ubuntu. it looks like there's some problem with creating miniature, except nautilus doesn't replace file icon with miniature, but creates it's own icon for that file. sadly, if there are other files and directories, I can't see them at all in nautilus if this happens. Sometimes it helps to get to another folder, sometimes it does not. Not even reboot helps. -- endless loading in nautilus / some files missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383927 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 297962] Re: brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work
I've just upgraded to 9.10 RC (fresh install actually), and brightness problem still persists. Since hal is supposed to be depreciated, I'm not sure if it still has anything to do with brightness. Well.. I think I'll stick to smartdimmer -s for a while, since I don't want to accidentally tweak my graphic card ;) -- brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 303224] Re: garbled Emacs display when running under compiz with nvidia drivers
I got this problem with variety of apps accross ubuntu. I'm neither using emacs, nor have noticed the problem within gnome-terminal, but it often occurs within mine game, where I often have to move window around to see marked flags, within OpenOffice where certain graphical elements tend to disappear, or text just vanishes after typing few letters. happens to me with Opera decoration bar, which often get refreshed only after clickin on it. [Bug 297962] Re: brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work
I guess that's becouse open source drivers are installed and beeing used from the beginning, when for nvidia I have onlu closed source drivers that need to be installed through jockey. Anyway, since the problem is with both drivers, intel as well as nvidia, and probably not with the default whatever it's called, it might get easier to determine couse for someone familiar with that part of ubuntu. -- brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 297962] Re: brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work
Jaunty jackalope can operate backlight as long as user doesn't install nvidia drivers. I noticed that when I launched live cd and installed it on my laptop. Backlight was changing when power was unplugged as well as I could operate it by using brightness applet (however it claimed it cannot read the brightness level). As soon as nvidia drivers (180.44) were installed, I lost control over the backlight. ** Tags added: backlight nvidia samsung -- brightness hardware control on Samsung R510 doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/297962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 352574] Re: system reboots instead of waking up from hibernation
I have similar problem on similar notebook (Samsung R510 with nvidia 9200GS graphic card. I'm using 64bit version of Ubuntu with nvidia 180.44 drivers. Wireless chipset is atheros ar242x (or ar5007 according to windows) with ath5 drivers I believe. The only difference is that for me it reboots every hibernation i do since Intrepid. Additionally after installing jaunty it somehow turned off my wireless chipset/card and it didn't worked at all before I hibernated and restored Vista (I did it with no reason other than hey! it hibernation, faulty hibernation turned off, working might turn it on ;) ). Haven't tried suspending the system, but in intrepid was almost working except that wireless chipset frezzed (using madifi then). For me it seems like nvidia's driver fault, as I seen some error in console during this hibernation. Whatever coused this problem, it might be related to this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/297962 -- system reboots instead of waking up from hibernation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352574 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I'm not on Centrino 2, however same model and Graphic card, and adjusting brightness doesn't work for me too (as well as several other Fn combinations). Also, screen's nod dimming automaticly when I'm working only on battery, which result in only 2 hours of work compared to about 3,5 under Vista ;/ I'll be attaching files requested in hawto to which Ian pointed out.
