[Bug 1665926] Re: photos.google.com is not usable
Dear Olivier, thanks for the quick response. The though question however will be, how to educate companies to be more open-minded when it comes to user agent sniffing. Maybe you can suggest to officially contact some Google guys so that they have a look into it. The user agent from Ubuntu Touch seems not to be Ubuntu-specific, so it must also hit other users on the planet. [Bug 1608871] Re: Wi-Fi settings are missing a "Connect Automatically" option
Matthew, the reason is as follows: We got a cable provider in town which offers to all subscribers free WiFi also on other people´s APs. That means I can go online when I need it and no other option is available. However, I don´t want to connect automatically to their WiFi as it is slower and the quality is not so good compared to my work or home WiFi. Then I set the provider´s WiFi to manually, giving me control over when to connect. Other networks that don´t overlap on the same place can stay in Auto all the time, of course. So while I still see that giving priorities is maybe a major task, and also not easy to be handled on a daily basis, this simple option could already help a lot of people. [Bug 1270189] Re: Ubuntu Touch devices are using cellular DNS servers over wifi connection
I am not sure if this is the right place but I see similar behaviour here with my BQ 5... I am online at my home with WiFi, however if I leave my home the phone does sometimes not switch to network correctly. I can e.g. still see the WiFi indicator shown but in the list of APs there is no green entry. Also, network does show only 3G or E, but not H if I try top open smth. All internet access ends with immediate connection errors, so it could also be DNS issue. But I am not sure. How can I debug the switch between network & wifi? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1270189 Title: Ubuntu Touch devices are using cellular DNS servers over wifi connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1270189/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1435040] Re: Ubuntu Phone (BQ E4.5) does not connect to car-bluetooth
Confirmed also to be an issue with: - BQ E5 - Ubuntu Touch 15.04 (OTA-8.5) - BMW 2 Series 1. Select Bluetooth device manager in car console 2. Car console states name of carkit, switches to discoverable mode 3. Turn on BT in phone and wait 4. Carkit appears in phone, press connect 5. Phone shows "Connected", "Excellent" reception, you can check "Connect automatically" But no pairing appears on neither devices. The carkit has no option to discover devices at all, just passive waiting. Also, phone shows carkit as headphone, which is basically OK, but the carkit can also act als multimedia player. SO both profiles should be announced, maybe that's the problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1435040 Title: Ubuntu Phone (BQ E4.5) does not connect to car-bluetooth To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1435040/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1475379] Re: mobile data down after leaving airplane mode
To me I have the opposite problem: Release: Ubuntu 15.04 - armhf Phone Model: BQ E5 HD (sim cards in Sim slot 1 and 2, mobile data is only enabled for card 2) 1. Mobile data works, airplane mode off 2. For some reason, mobile data (Edge, UMTS) looses connectivity and never gets it again (maybe associated with entering and leaving a WiFi) - Telephone & SMS still work - Network icon shows full strength for both SIMs, WiFi icon shows "empty shape" 3. Switch airplane mode on 4. Switch airplane mode off --> mobile data works immediatly It is very annyoing to constantly loose mobile data connectivity. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475379 Title: mobile data down after leaving airplane mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-network/+bug/1475379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1247216] Re: Support for XMPP
Plus add OTR to the conversation and you got a rock solid IM solution that I would like much more to use on my mobile than WhatsApp or Telegram. Different XEP coverage by some clients can be a pain, but that should be not a reason not to try to get this done for Ubuntu Touch. [Bug 162671] Re: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported
Malcolm, thanks this worked so far. But what will the future be for this driver? [Bug 162671] Re: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported
Joe and others, I own a small netbook since some years with exactly this nice piece of hardware. After each upgrade it was the same messy thing to somehow get VIA's code compiling, loading and not breaking the system. Then somehow I saw light at the end of the tunnel, as I noticed the driver is in staging now. I happily started to use kernel 2.6.32 and I started to forget about this issue. Until today, when I noticed that after my upgrade to 12.04 my WLAN is gone again. sigh. Nightmares came back. How can this be, the kernel is now 3.2.x and slowly the community should make up its mind, do we support this crappy piece of hardware or not? I could accept a denial for this thingy, but please, do not make it first work, and then break it again... Anyway, Joe, I followed your instructions, and they do not work for me. No error, compilation successful, driver loads (lsmod), but no reaction. No output, no eth1, its just stuck in the memory. Does anyone have an idea? kind regards Florian -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/162671 Title: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/162671/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 162671] Re: VT6656 wireless chipset is unsupported
Guys, just wanted to add that VIA itself has released an update (1.20.3), which works fo me with 9.10: http://www.viaarena.com/displaydrivers.aspx?PageID=1&OSID=25&CatID=2590&SubCatID=176 - despite they claim its only for 9.04.
