[Bug 1579482] [NEW] Ubuntu 16 Bluetooth speakers and earphones connections not connecting automatically and dropping

2016-05-08 Thread garypeg
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16 Bluetooth is not connecting automatically to both my bluetooth
speaker and earphones, as well as dropping the connection frequently.
To connect I have to use bluetooth manager. The device connects.
However when you choose the device in sound settings there is no sound.
Then I have to choose Headset Unit vs A2DP and test for sound. There is
sound. But if I switch back to A2DP at that point, Sound settings moves
immediately to Built in Audio. Then I close Sound Settings, disconnect
the device, reconnect it, go to Sound Settings, Chose the Device and
A2DP and there is sound, for a while. Then I have to repeat the process
to get sound back.

My bluetooth mouth works perfectly.

I have purged and reinstalled bluetooth and pulse audio.
/etc/bluetooth/input.conf is blank. I am not sure what else to report.
Please advise.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-12-26 Thread garypeg
Add me to the list of those effected. I have to go through quite the
rigamarole to get it working

1) in terminal sudo pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
2) blueman- setup, choose A2DP
3) PAVU- select A2DP
4) Then I select the device with the volume/sound settings.

14.04 with all the latest updates. I hope this issue can be addressed. Thanks!

Re: [Bug 1314935] Re: install crash - could not make grub

2014-05-02 Thread garypeg
Oh, just like me to invent a new problem! By way everything working
fine. B refers to an external hard drive, with 2 partitions. One
contains a 32 bit version of 14.04 on which I installed the 64 bit. The
other is just a data partition.

[Bug 1242258] Re: Can not make new folder nor bookmarks

2013-10-25 Thread garypeg
When you open Nautilus, you should Across the top you should read,
"File, Edit, View, Go, Bookmarks, Help." Upon upgrade I have only
"File."Under File I have New Window, Connect to Server, Enter
Location, Bookmarks, Preferences, About Files, Help, and Quit. Under
Bookmarks you can see the system generated bookmarks such as Download,
Desktop, Videos. (When I clicked on one of those just now Nautilus
crashed). But there is no way to make a new bookmark, including when
you right click on a folder. Make New Bookmark is grayed out.

I hope this provides enough detail.

I see now that (make) New Folder has been moved from the File to gear
icon within Nautilus. There my comment about 'can not make new folder'
is no longer a concern.

thanks

In both of my computers auto scrolling moves the icons way too fast.
Changing mouse settings has no effect. Holding alt while using the
wheel works great.

[Bug 1132584] Re: cedarview-drm kernel module fails to build on kernel 3.5.x [error: implicit declaration of function 'do_mmap']

2013-05-04 Thread garypeg
I have an Asus 1025 ce with the Cedartrail critters. It works well on
Lubuntu 12.04 and 13.04 upgrade, 12.04.1 and 13.04. 12.04 is fine with
youtubes. Netflix is very choppy but could be in part due to the vpn.
I am quite happy with the performance most of the time time, no, the
vast majority of the time. No 3d. So the launcher icons don't fold- no
big deal. I do not play games so no problem there- I doubt running
windows would work for games either as it had a pretty severe typing
lag. I uninstalled W7. 13.04 runs 3d at least in so far as the
launcher icons folding. It will not connect with external monitors so I
can not use it most of the time and besides it is a bit slow in 3d. I
installed Cinnamon and in 2d it is reasonably responsive but 12.04 is
better in that regard as is Lubuntu of course (I use it when I need to
do some heavier editing or some such). Nonetheless I would not
recommend this computer- not with any operating system. It just can
not do heavy lifting and you have to play with it a bit to get Ubuntu to
install- not a big deal for someone with moderate skills.

Re: [Bug 1132584] Re: cedarview-drm kernel module fails to build on kernel 3.5.x [error: implicit declaration of function 'do_mmap']

2013-03-24 Thread garypeg
I had just tried using the download from Ubuntu and it did not work. I
tried the one on the PB site and it worked! I followed these instructions
however-
http://linuxeeepc.blogspot.com.es/2012/08/lubuntu-on-eeepc-1025c-with-correct.html.

If you have another linux installation be carefu about removing kernels!
It will delete anything you tell it to anywhere on the disk.

I am using GDM and the only thing I want to do that I can not is autohide
the launcher and shrink the auncher icon size. I do not play games so no
comment there.

[Bug 1008844] [NEW] switching languages help is incorrect

2012-06-04 Thread garypeg
Public bug reported:

The official documentation says:

SwitchingLanguages
.
To change the language of your next session, you will need to change it
from the login screen.
Before logging in, click on Options (found in the bottom left corner of
the login screen)
> Select Language and choose the language for your next session.
The system will ask you if you would like to change the language of the
login screen as well,
and whether the change is only for one session or permanent. After this,
you may log into your account."

This is I think the correct way to do it:

Once you have installed languages, with the Language window open
(search for Language from the program selection launcher or on top
right 'System then languages, drag your preferred language to the top
and then click "Apply system wide." Then logout and log back in and
you should be in your new language. In fact when I just did it the
login screen was in Spanish.

[Bug 946663] Re: Installer stuck at "Removing conflicting operating system files..."

2012-03-23 Thread garypeg
I have what sounds like essentially the same problem. "Removing
conflicting operating system files..." and it never leaves that state.
I connect to the wireless but do not install Broadcom drivers. I choose
sda8 which has Lubuntu installed. I have tried to install with and
without formatting the partition, this time without. I choose / as
mount point and ext 4.This is a Samsung netbook with Win 7 and
ubuntu 11.10, both of which I want to keep at this point.

Here is the output

  Installed: 1:1.0-0ubuntu3.1
  Candidate: 1:1.0-0ubuntu3.1
  Version table:

 *** 1:1.0-0ubuntu3.1 0
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/main
i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:1.0-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages

Still is working properly. I think we can call this problem solved.

I do not know how to find the version of Pulse installed however I did
a fresh install of 11.10 yesterday and that seems to have resolved the
problem. I was having quite a few little problems like this one from
having upgraded from 11.04. I will use it for a few days and then
report the problem resolved if I have no further issues.

Thank you very much for getting back to me.

I sent in the report, thanks Fabio for your prompt reply. I
reinstalled 11.10 just before getting this email, using the new
feature where you can reinstall without deleting your files and
programs- nice feature. I replicated the problem before I followed
your instructions. The speakers work fine in windows after unplugging
the earphones so i think this is a software issue.

Not sure what you mean when you say 'go back to tty7.' If it is not
too difficult please send complete instructions, might save some back
and forth.

I posted the output of unity --reset. See below. Is this different?

[Bug 876227] [NEW] Unity fails to load and will not reset

2011-10-16 Thread garypeg
Public bug reported:

When unity tries to load, it shows only a small nautilus menu which only
allows me to navigate the file system. There is no launcher and the top
panel is gone. Sounds similar to bug 873599 but I am 32 bit and the
problem appears to be permanent. Using Ubuntu 11.10 upgrade, compiz-
core 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu3 (I obtained this info from software
center logged in as a different user in 2D).

Computer is a Samsung Netbook N110.

[Bug 402796] My Predicament!!!

2010-08-06 Thread garypeg
I'm writing this with tears in my eyes,my fam and I came down here to
London,England for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park
of the hotel where we stayed, all cash, credit card and cell were stolen off
us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

We've been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues
at all and our flight leaves in less than 3hrs from now but the hotel
manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills.

Am freaked out at the moment..
