[Bug 260492] Re: opening a directory using an application change associations incorrectly

2008-10-31 Thread geologic
Just did a network upgrade to the official release of 8.10, and had this
problem. Any of the directories from 'Places' opened with Totem. From
the desktop nautilus launched as normal. I was then able to change 'Open
With...' and luckily changing just one folder fixed them all.

Also, possibly related[?] is that the folder icons used in 'Places' are
the default Gnome icons, and do not match my icon theme. Before
upgrading they matched, but are now different. All other icons in
'Places' are the same, including 'Home' and 'Desktop'.

[Bug 156846] Re: Gutsy Application Switcher Shifts With "Alt-Tab"

2008-08-18 Thread geologic
To clarify I was not talking about alt-tab making a desktop switch to
the right. Rather it was graphical windows which is displayed, the one
showing an icon for each of your open windows. This is when compiz/beryl
stuff is turned off. For some reason this which, which is normally
centered on the screen, is off centered, in both cases it seems that it
was shifted to the right side of the screen.

However, as this is the preview release of ubuntu, and didnt seem to
receive further reports, (and since its not a show stopper and doesnt
effect usage) I think its safe to say that what ever caused it has been
sorted out...

[Bug 254166] Re: VLC instantly crashes with "Illegal instruction" message

2008-08-18 Thread geologic
Ran update manager within the last week or so, and vlc now seems to at
least launch and display. Havent really tested it for stability. I
believe its still the same version of vlc (0.8.6e) so not sure what was
changed

[Bug 70076] Re: 'pitivi' received an X Window System error

2008-08-02 Thread geologic
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 58626 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/58626

I'm having this same problem on an up to date Hardy 8.04.1 system.
Running pitivi 0.11.1 on an AMD64 system.

The timing of the program crashing isnt always consistent. Sometimes it will be
an instant crash before the program even loads. Sometimes I can get as far as
loading clips (using .mov files) and putting them in the timeline. Shortly
after starting playback, I get the crash.
All the options to save the project are also greyed out

The crash messages also will vary a bit:
:~$ pitivi
The program 'pitivi' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 90 error_code 2 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 156846] Re: Gutsy Application Switcher Shifts With "Alt-Tab"

2007-11-16 Thread geologic
I believe I have this same issue happening. I only noticed it after
using Super-alt-tab, then using alt-tab appears offcentered on the
desktop. Never noticed it before initiating the Super-alt-tab combo.
