It happens for me too with an Intel integrated video card. The error
occurs when spotify tries to load advertisements or the header part for
a playlist. I don't know if the error is connected to the video driver
at all. Im on ubuntu 14.10.

2015-03-07 Thread Adam Hallgat
Still happening on
3.16.0-31-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 10 15:24:04 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Happens very often if torrent is running. After logout the lightdm is not
responsible.
This dmesg log shows the error. I tried to disconnect from the network several
times, then pressed the wifi switch on my laptop. They did nothing, I only got
the usual "Disconnecting the device was unsuccesful (4) Didn't receive a reply"
which I always get when the wifi locks up.

[Bug 1388416] [NEW] rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - vendor request * failed for offset * with error -110

2014-11-01 Thread Adam Hallgat
Public bug reported:

Using Ubuntu 14.10 (64bit) the following error happens in every few
days:

Suddenly the network connection disconnects and locks up every process
which is connected to networking. The only way is to reset the whole
computer.

If i log in to tty i get the following error in every half minutes or
so:

ieee80211 phy0: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - vendor request 0x07
failed for offset 0x3090 with error -110

Also i get some other messages about some application being blocked for
more than 120 seconds. The applications are the following:

- network manager,
- wpa_supplicant,
- dropbox,
- dns res~ver, dns resolver (for some this is mentioned twice like this)
- kworker

I use Ubuntu on a Nec Versa One (M370) laptop since Ubuntu 9.10. I have
always had similar driver issues with my built-in wireless card. The
module which throws the error changed though.

>From 9.10 to 13.* i got the same error from the rt73usb module.
Now I'm using Ubuntu 14.10 (64bit) and now i get this error from the rt2x00usb
module. (this is used by the rt73usb mod).

This bug affects me as long as i have been using Ubuntu. I guess this
driver issue might depend on the manufacturer, and hard to fix, but at
least I would like to see a workaround to somehow solve this issue
without rebooting.

[Bug 1124632] Re: Backspace key does not work anymore.

2013-04-23 Thread Adam Hallgat
But being unable to change it is a bug.

Also Alt+down only can be used to go back one times, even if the navigator
displays the previous folders.
For example:
You are in /username/Images/Wallpapers folder.You Alt+up.
You are in /username/Images folder. You Alt+up.
You are in /username folder.

Now you see that with your mouse you can still go back to the Wallpapers
folder, but Alt+down only takes you to the Images folder, and pressing Alt+down
does nothing.
The second Alt+tab should bring you back to the Wallpapers folder. (Or what's
the point of showing the folders you have came from?)

And what's the point of disabling the backspace function?

[Bug 968291] Re: Cannot raise window on click

2013-04-23 Thread Adam Hallgat
I noticed this error on Ubuntu 13.04 beta, using an own desktop environment.
(maybe it affects unity, but it uses a different titlebar for maximised
windows, might be hard to notice)

 This script launches my environment:

#!/bin/bash
gnome-session &
compiz ccp &
nautilus &
synapse &
tint2

Symptoms:

If I open a Nautilus and for example Thunderbird (both fullscreen) one of them
loses it's focus when it's titlebar is clicked, and it switches to the other
window. (So if you want to close a window, you end up closing another.)
The windows get the focus when I click on them, but clicking the titlebar loses
it.
After minimizing windows an restoring them, the problem is gone.
Sometimes both windows are "unfocusable" by clicking on the titlebar.
Sometimes one window is acting like it's "always in foreground".

The problem still persists, if "gnome compatibility" and "window
decorations" are the only things checked in CCSM.

[Bug 362875] Re: rt2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - Vendor Request 0x07 failed for offset

2011-10-06 Thread hallgat
Also happens without ndiswrapper. When happens `ping google.com`,`sudo
ifconfig wlan0 up`, `sudo lshw` tasks freezes too. The network icon
also disappears from my tint2 panel. They do nothing, and I don't get
the terminal back. Very annoying bug, didn't happen in the previous
ubuntus.

2011-10-05 Thread hallgat
Affects Ubuntu 11.10. I havent noticed this error on the previous
distributions. My hardware is NEC Versa One.

phy0 -> RT2x00usb_vendor_request: Error - vendor request 0x07 failed for
offset 0x308c with error -110

I'm using ndiswrapper. Can be that the cause?

[Bug 779396] Re: Random crashes when using firefox, only reset helps

2011-10-05 Thread hallgat
Well this error was caused by the system itself. I used 32 bit ubuntu on
a 64 bit machine. Usually this shouldn't be a problem, but it look like
it is.. I installed the 64 bit version, and since then I haven't had
the errors.

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime

2011-09-07 Thread hallgat
I usually writehdparm -B 254 /dev/sda to the /etc/rc.local to set
the APM 254 or 255, so if laptop-mode-tools only do the same
unfortunately it won't be enough.

For example my harddrive is Seagate ST9120822AS. If you check
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DanielHahler/Bug59695
it shows there is no known safe APM setting exists to this hard drive. In the
earlier Ubuntu distributions I tried both 254 and 255 but they didn't solve the
problem for me.

For many hdd it shows solution but for mine and some others there isn't
any known solution.

[Bug 59695] Re: High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime

2011-09-07 Thread hallgat
Ocassionaly frequent load-unload cycles happens under Oneiric 11.10 Beta 1
usually when watching youtube.
This happened from 10.04 and up on every ubuntu distro. 10.04 clearly tried to
kill my hard drive, fortunately the never versions are less cruel :) As I know
there still isn't a 100% workaround for my hdd.

I'm using a NEC Versa one laptop without ( ACPI=off ) with the hdd
below:

*-disk

product: ST9120822AS
vendor: Seagate
physical id: 0.0.0

Now I got "BUG: scheduling while atomic" releated to the swapper.
A similar bug was fixed ages ago:

[Bug 779396] Re: Random crashes when using firefox, only reset helps

2011-05-09 Thread hallgat
I was searching after this libgobect-2.0, and found a forum where they said
libgobject-2.0 is a part of the libglib2.0-dev package.
So I made a
sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-dev
it installed ~5400 kb of new packages. Since then I haven't had that error. I
have to test is for 1-2 days to make sure, but at first sight it seems to work.

[Bug 779396] Re: Random crashes when using firefox, only reset helps

2011-05-08 Thread hallgat
I reinstalled package Nautilus, but package with name libgobject* was
not found. (tryed in synaptic, and in terminal too)

hallgat@ubuntu:~$ apt-cache search libgobject
hallgat@ubuntu:~$

I'm using the Nautilus Elementary ppa. Can it be the problem? If i
disable it, i cannot reinstall nautilus only after removing it. I'm
somewhat familiar with the console, so i think i could do it.

by "https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/779369"; you
did not mean 779396? I'll run it.

** Description changed:

Firefox randomly crashes on Natty, causing a kernel panic. It throws me to a
text screen, and doesn't respond to anything.
  sometimes it throws different errors:

  1. Kernel panic: Fatal exception in interrupt
  2. some kind of Nullpointer reference error
  3. Infinite error, i cannot read anything because it scrolls fast.

Controlling interrupts is the job of the operating system, so i think
  it's not a firefox issue.

Using unity, unity 2d or classic session also produces this error.
I also checked the logs, but i couldn't find these parts in them.
The actual stable 11.04 kernel has this issue too.

And here is the kern.log.1

I will photo the screen every time it freezes, if it helps.
I tried Chromium, it caused this bug too. I'm using Ndiswrapper, i hope it
can't cause this.

I noticed that problem. Actually it happened to me every day at 00:00.
When I entered killall gnome-panel in the console, it restarted and
worked fine. So I think the problem is the mindight time.
