[Bug 764760] Re: Drag-Drop Behavior. Alt-Tab while Drag. Unity Launcher.
** Description changed: Binary package hint: unity - First of all, the Drag-Drop behavior on Unity Launcher is random, - sometimes the files won't even open. + Exemplary use case: + Add a media resource (e.g. file items from Nautilus in full screen) to another application's drop zone (e.g. Totem playlist). - 1st Bug: - Actually the specific use case is to add the media resource to the Application (e.g Totem playlist) i.e. drop the dragged items within a dedicated area of another application. - Dragging the item to the Unity Launcher and keeping it on that icon brings that app to focus and the as app is at focus the item is dragged back onto the focused app, but now that item can't be added (or interact) to the app. + Intended solution is to DRAG item(s), Alt-TAB to switch to other app, DROP item(s). + It seems Task Switcher does not get notified while Drag (mouse down). - 2nd Bug: - When we Drag-Drop a file (e.g Video File) on an application icon (e.g Totem) the file opens but the application remains out of focus. + Alternative solution (without keyboard interaction): Dragging the item to the Unity Launcher and keeping it on that icon brings that app to focus and the as app is at focus the item is dragged back onto the focused app, but now that item can't be added (or interact) to the app. + The Drag-Drop behavior on Unity Launcher is random, sometimes the files won't even open. When we Drag-Drop a file (e.g Video File) on an application icon (e.g Totem) the file opens but the application remains out of focus. FIX: The application must take focus when a file is drag-opened by the Unity Launcher. [Bug 299020] Re: USB ports do not work after upgrade to 8.10
Long history of this bug on my part ... More info: After upgrading to 8.10 (?) my USB mouse did not move smoothly anymore -- unusable. In 9.04 (?) it worked sometimes, so I had to reboot several times to have normal mouse movements. In 10.04 the mouse works but not the more data intensive USB DVB-T stick: no smooth picture -- unwatchable. The same stick works great on my AMD desktop Ubuntu 10.04, and also on the here bug-reported Benq 7000 with WinXP.
